Fierce Style Review & Giveaway

Book Description:

In 2008, Christian Siriano made headlines as the youngest designer to win the hit reality series Project Runway. But the now twenty-three-year-old is bigger than a TV celebrity. From his prodigious fashion talent to his one-of-a-kind personality, Christian is the embodiment of fierce style.

Now in his first book, he helps readers discover how to look, feel, and act fierce in everyday life. With tips from some of fashion and Hollywood's biggest names -including Victoria Beckham, Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia, and Vanessa Williams -- along with gorgeous original sketches by Christian, never-before-heard stories, and behind-the-scenes photos, he tells his journey of developing his own fashion sense and overcoming obstacles to success.

Giving advice on creating personal style, sharing tips on building self-confidence, and revealing his own list of fashion dos and don'ts, Christian shows how to use one's unique strengths to get ahead - and go from tickity-tack to totally flawless.

About Christian Siriano:

Dubbed "America's next great fashion designer" by Tim Gunn, Christian Siriano is the youngest winner of reality television series Project Runway. He previously honed his fashion chops in London working for top fashion designers Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood. His first collection debuted at New York fashion week in fall 2008.

My Review:

I have to admit, I was slightly intimidated when reading Fierce Style:) I have always been a very "comfortable" dresser. Jeans and t-shirts are my staple, and sweatshirts too. According to Siriano, I would be a fashion no because of the sweatshirt, but oh well, I still love them LOL!

I have never been one to follow the fashion trends per say, but I do like to look nice and feel good about myself. This book gives the reader a ton, and I mean a ton, of ways to make changes. By making these little changes, one apparently can go from "frumpy to fierce".

I love the fact that Siriano gives "real world" fashion advice. For example, when talking about going shopping, he gives the "high end" label names, but also gives the reader info about how to buy the same styles but much cheaper (like going to Old Navy, American Eagle, and Payless). I love that. There are many styles I have seen in the fashion world that I would love, but I am so not willing to pay $300 + for a pair of jeans or shoes. I don't care who designed it.

One thing that I love about Fierce Style, is that Siriano encourages the reader to find your own fashion sense. Wear what your comfortable in, but get "out of the box" and make your fashion your own!

I also love the glossary at the end of the book that explains all of Siriano's fun language. So cute!

He gives a lot of advice, but one piece that I love is: buy one piece of luxurious fashion wear (shoes, bag, etc) in your life. I am now on the hunt for something fabulous, that will last a long, long time. But I will still look for a deal, because that is who I am. Frugal to a fault:) He suggests a great handbag because those will never go out of style, no matter how big:)

Overall, this book is a very quick read. I love how Siriano write conversational, like you are just sitting and having coffee! Very cool. I also love the designs and photos of celebrities fashion and his own designs. Even if you a not a fan of Project Runway, or Project Runway Canada, this is still a fun read! It will inspire you. It did me:)
