The Safe Sippy - Review & Giveaway!

As a busy mom, I am always on the lookout for innovative, and fun products for my family. I also love it when I find eco-friendly products that are reasonablly priced.

Since both my daughters use sippy cups, when I had to the chance to review Kidbasix' The Safe Sippy 2, I jumped at the chance. Thank you to Bret Plate for sending me not one, but two pink Safe Sippy cups for the purpose of review.

About Kidsbasix

Kid Basix created The Safe Sippy™ drink cup in response to parents’ growing concerns about Bisphenol A and other harmful chemicals present in many plastic bottles. Now, we have expanded the “Safe” brand to include The Safe Starter™ stainless steel baby bottle and The Safe Sporter™ sports bottles to provide safe, reusable drink ware for the entire family.

Why go with stainless steel bottles from Kid Basix when so many BPA-free plastic bottles are available now? We can give you 300 billion reasons. That’s the approximate number of plastic water bottles discarded around the world every year. Enough to power 12 million cars for an entire year. And that’s just the water bottles! It doesn’t include all the plastic bottles used for sodas, sports drinks, fruit juices and the like. All told, the plastic bottles we throw away each year would reach to the moon and back – 1500 times. So using reusable stainless steel bottles makes sense on every level: personal, local and global.

Why Stainless?

The entire family of Kid Basix stainless steel drink ware – The Safe Sippy™ no-spill cup, The Safe Starter™ baby bottle and The Safe Sporter™ water bottles – was created in response to the growing body of emerging scientific evidence about the dangers of toxic chemicals used to make many plastics. It has been well documented that Bisphenol A (BPA) is the most worrisome of these chemicals, but other chemicals now being studied are now also cause for concern.

We chose stainless steel because it is clean, stable and durable. Because stainless steel is stable and inert, it does not interact with the foods and fluids it comes into contact with. So what you put in is what you get out. Stainless steel is also one of the most easily recycled materials on earth, making The “Safe” brand of drink ware a smart and green choice in a world trying to reduce plastic waste. Check out more information about plastic and the environment here.

My Review:

I was very impressed with The Safe Sippy 2. I love the overall design of the cup, particularly the way one can switch between using the sippy and straw attachments interchangeably.

But more importantly, my children love them. My girls are three years and 16 months of age and both love The Safe Sippy. In fact, whenever we have gone somewhere in the last two weeks since we received The Safe Sippy, that is the only cup we can take with us. I would say its a definite keeper:)

I love that this product is dishwasher safe, and is available in sport bottles and baby bottles too! I also love the durability in the stainless steel. I do not know how many plastic sippy cups I have gone through because when dropped they crack or break! This does not happen with The Safe Sippy!

This is a great idea for any new mom, as a baby gift or baby shower gift! With Christmas just around the corner, The Safe Sippy would make a great stocking stuffer for the child who wants a "big kid cup" but is not yet ready for a regular cup.

  1. While they are an American company the product is actually manufactured in China using strict standards and they have visited the plant several times to verify this.
