Esther: It's Tough Being A Woman Part 1

Okay, so last week I mentioned that I just finished up Beth Moore's study on the book of Esther. Wow, what an experience. I learned a lot to apply to my life and think about. So I am going to first sum up the study, then blog some of my thoughts on the study! One of the main things the Moore spoke about was turning our circumstances around.

1. Its Tough Being A Women ... In Another Woman's Shadow

When I am overshadowed, I can turn it around!

Psalm 91:1 "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty."

I went through a time when I struggled with infertility, and felt so overshadowed by those around me getting pregnant and starting families of their own. It was very interesting that Beth Moore suggested this verse during her study because it was one that was given to me in a card from a friend. I knew that as long as I rested in Him I would be able to get through anything!

2. Its Tough Being A Woman... In A World Where Beauty Is a Treatment

Ecclesiasties 3:11 "He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end."

Beth Moore made a number of statements which impacted me. Initially, I don't know why they have impacted me but I know His reasons will be revealed in His time.

a. You can't amputate your history from your destiny (you can't become the person God's going to make you without your history). Never forget what He's brought us from and through Jeremiah 29:11-13

b. Your past and future share the same root - Jesus

I struggled with low self confidence for many years thinking I was not pretty enough, etc but during the last 12 years or so I have realized the following:

*I am complete in Christ (Colossian 2:10)

*I am my Beloved's and His desire is to me (Song of Solomon 7:10)

*I am filled with His Beauty (Psalm 70:17)

One thing that Beth Moore mentioned was this "God is attracted to weakness because there is more room for the strength of God to come into you". Even when I am weak, He is stronger and will make me as strong as I need to be. Wow

The Big Cook

So the latest "big thing" in cook books is apparently "The Big Cook". I love to freezer cook so that I have meals prepared and do not always have to wonder, what am I going to make for supper tonight. Usually I can just look in my freezer and find something. But this book takes freezer cooking to a whole new level.

The Big Cook concept was created by three moms from Medicine Hat, AB

You get a bunch of friends together, figure out which recipes each of you will make, do the big shopping trip, and take one 8 hour day and cook like crazy, but have a blast doing it!

I recently found a sample recipe online and decided to try it out first, before spending the money on the book. Well needless to say, I went out and bought the book the same evening as I made this recipe. It was so yummy! So I am sharing it with you and I hope you enjoy as much as I did!

I will be doing "A Big Cook" day with some friends soon and will post my experience with that once it happens. In the mean time, enjoy!

Check out THE BIG COOK website for more info on this great book, and where you can find it in your area. It also has the sample recipe, Saucy Chicken, for you to try!

In Lethbridge, it can be found at Save On Foods for $32.95

Beth Moore - Esther: It's tough being a Woman

So over the last few weeks I have been attending the women's Bible study at church. We have been watching and discussing the DVD series by Beth Moore, "Esther: Its Tough Being A Woman". Wow! That is all I have to say! It has been an interesting journey to say the least.

Over the next couple posts I will write about some of the things I have learned and hopefully these insights will impact you just as they have me.

Basically there were seven points Beth Moore makes:

1. Its tough being a woman in another woman's shadow

2. Its tough being a woman in a world where beauty is a treatment

3. Its tough being a woman in a mean world

4. Its tough being a woman thrown a giant size weight

5. Its tough being a woman in the tight fist of fear

6. Its tough being a woman who can balance passion with patience

7. Its tough being a woman who feels responsible for the "how"

So these are her major points and I will use my blog over the next few days to journal the points that impacted me the most! Stay tuned

Encouragement during Tough Times

So over the last little while I have had a number of friends and family going through some tough times. Sometimes I find that music says so much more than I can ever and these are a couple of songs that have been very encouraging to me and so I pass them on to those in my life that are going through valleys!

Hope they encourage you too, wherever you are in your life journey:

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
Your perfect love is casting out fear
And even when I’m caught in the middle of the storms of this life
I won’t turn back
I know You are near

And I will fear no evil
For my God is with me
And if my God is with me
Whom then shall I fear?
Whom then shall I fear?

Chorus:
Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me

And I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
A glorious light beyond all compare
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
We’ll live to know You here on the earth

Chorus:

Yes, I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
Still I will praise You, still I will praise You

Isaiah 40: 27-31 has always been a favorite passage of scripture for me, particularly when struggling with cancer and infertility a couple years ago...when I first heard Lincoln Brewster sing Everylasting God I cried because not only does it speak my favorite verses, but it was so timely....this is a song that I listen to over and over again in good and bad times:)

Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord

Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our Strong Deliverer
You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won't grow weary

Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our Strong Deliverer
You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won't grow weary

You're the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings like eagles

Hide me now
Under your wings
Cover me
within your mighty hand

When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with you above the storm
Father you are king over the flood
I will be still and know you are God

Find rest my soul
In Christ alone
Know his power
In quietness and trust

Be blessed by these videos and I pray that whatever storm or trial you are facing that you will cling to the hope that in our Lord, Jesus Christ!

We will never understand this side of heaven why we have to go through the things we do but we know God knows and I was once told, "If He brings us to it, He will bring us through it"
