Happy Birthday Baby Girl!

This entry is a little late as Isabella's birthday was actually on the 14th but with the big I just have not had time to write this.

It just amazes me that Bella is 1 already...boy this year has flown by. I can remember clearly finding out I was pregnant with her like it was yesterday:a) Though I had a high risk pregnancy due to a partial placental abruption with Makayla, i was eagerly anticipating a pretty "normal" one this time...boy was I wrong LOL....at 24 weeks I ended up in the hospital for 3 days with out of control gestational diabetes and then at around 32 weeks I found out I had gall stones! That explained the major pain I was experiencing. So for the last 14 or so weeks not only did I give myself insulin 4 times a day, but also had regular shots of Demerol for the gall stone pain.
Had a planned C-section planned for July 18th but Bella apparently had plans of her own and arrived at 10:50pm on the 14th (via c-section). I thought I was having gall bladder attacks all day, but in reality it was contractions. LOL

But now a year has gone by, had my baby, got my gall bladder out and life is never dull.

With a 2.5 year old and a 1 year old, life is never dull...especially when Bella has been walking now for over a month and climbs everything in sight! But I would not give it up for anything! Especially when I was told I might never have children, and also had cancer too! Thank you God for your blessings never-ending!

The Hole In Our Gospel - Book Review

This is my most recent review for Thomas Nelson Book Review Bloggers program. Enjoy.

Book Description

"Preach the Gospel always. Use words if necessary." - St. Francis of Assisi

It's 1998 and Richard Stearns' heart is breaking as he sits in a mud hut and listens to the story of an orphaned child in Rakai, Uganda. His journey to this place took more than a long flight from the United States to Africa. It took answering God's call on his life, a call that hurtled him out of his presidential corner office at Lenox-America's finest tableware company-to this humble corner of Uganda.

This is a story of how a corporate CEO faced his own struggle to obey God whatever the cost, and his passionate call for Christians to change the world by actively living out their faith. Using his own journey as an example, Stearns explores the hole that exists in our understanding of the Gospel.

Two thousand years ago, twelve people changed the world. Stearns believes it can happen again.

My Review:

"What Does God Expect of Us?" This question is posed by Stearns on the cover of his book, and is asked regularly throughout the book. Never have I been more challenged by a book, never. The Hole In Our Gospel has changed my life. And it will change yours too. In fact, I truly believe that every Christian SHOULD read this book!

Richard Stearns does has a remarkable story of going from having "the American Dream" to giving it all up to obey God's call on his life. Wow! Though his path to following this call was not easy, Stearns obeyed and challenges all those who call themselves Christians to do the same. He was a modern day Moses, who chose to obey. We HAVE to do the same

Stearns explains the answer to "What Does God Expect of Us?" Easy - love the Lord with all our heart, mind and soul; love our neighbors; and, go into the world and preach the good news. Sounds simple, but it is so not, as anyone can say.

The one thing that I have walked away with after reading A Hole In Our Gospel is that even if I do a little to help those less fortunate, I am doing my part. I have to do something, we all have to....whether its going on Missions overseas, supporting missionaries, serving at your local food bank or soup kitchen...does not matter...."whatever you do for the least of these, you do unto me" - Jesus.

Its so hard to hear that over 26,000 children die everyday because of poverty....we as Christians need to stand up and do the right thing by them...today...because tomorrow will be too late. One of the quotes from the book which really struck me was: "live as if Christ died yesterday, rose today, and is coming back tomorrow".
