Fiction Value Book Blog Tour

As part of Waterbrook Multnomah's Blogging for Books Program, I was recently a part of the More Value Fiction Blog Tour. This consisted of receiving two full length, value priced Christian novels and do a review here on my blog! I was so excited to see that I would receive two of eight possible novels from best-selling authors like Robin Jones Gunn, Lisa Tawn Bergen and Angela Elwell Hunt. Without further delay, here are my thoughts on the two books I received from Waterbrook Multnomah.

Secrets by Robin Jones Gunn

About The Book:

Jessica ran from her past...but can she hide from love?

Jessica Morgan wants desperately to forget the past and begin a new life. She chooses a small, peaceful town tucked away in Oregon’s Willamette Valley as the place to start over—Glenbrooke. Once there, Jessica conceals her identity from the intriguing personalities she meets—including the compassionate paramedic who desires to protect her and the jealous woman who wants nothing more than to destroy her.

Will Jessica’s deceit ruin all hope for the future? Or will she find a deeper peace that allows her to stop hiding the truth from those who love her most of all?

This heartwarming bestseller, book one in the Glenbrooke series, introduces the fascinating people of Glenbrooke in a compelling tale of romance and spiritual truth.

About The Author:

Robin Jones Gunn is the much-loved award-winning author of the Glenbrooke, Sisterchicks(R), Christy Miller, and Sierra Jensen series, with more than three million books sold worldwide. Robin lives with her family near Portland, Oregon.

My Review:

Fantastic book! I loved how Gunn created real characters, which real issues that any one of us could have experienced in our life. This book was very easy to read, and is also a very quick read (I read it in about a day). If you are looking for a great book, fun and entertaining, that reminds you of the importance of a relationship with God, then Secrets is the book for you! I will definitely be reading the rest of The Glenbrooke Series.

BUY IT: You can purchase Secrets directly online at Waterbrook Multnomah for $6.99!!! It is also available through your local bookseller and on Amazon.com and Amazon.ca

The Golden Cross by Angela Elwell Hunt

About The Book:

A line of women who would be warriors for truth
“It is said that as Cahira, daughter of the great Irish king Rory O’Connor, lay dying of a wound from a Norman blade, she lifted her hand toward heaven and beseeched God that others would follow after her, bright stars who would break forth from the courses to which they are bound and restore right in this murderous world…”

To Kathleen O’Connor, Cahira’s story is nothing more than a charming legend—until her research divulges that several of Cahira’s heirs did, indeed, leave the traditional roles of womanhood to fight for right. Stunned, Kathleen realizes she herself bears Cahira’s mark. Is Kathleen
destined to continue the legacy in the twenty-first century?

To discover how the histories of these women relate to her own future, Kathleen must delve deep into the past to learn the truth about The Heirs of Cahira O’Connor…

Aidan O’Connor

Aidan O’Connor was raised among pickpockets and prostitutes in a Dutch colony on Java, Indonesia. But when a world-famous cartographer discovers her natural artistic talent, she is given a chance to leave her troubled life behind. Disguised as a boy, Aidan joins her benefactor at sea and begins the work of drawing the flora and fauna of the new world. This fresh beginning leads her into adventure--and to a great love. But can this love survive the force of Aidan’s past…and her ambitions for her future?

You can read an excerpt of The Golden Cross here.

About The Author:

Angela Elwell Hunt is the best-selling author of over sixty titles. The Velvet Shadow follows The Silver Sword and The Golden Cross, the first two novels in the exciting Heirs of Cahira O'Connor Series. Angela and her husband Gary live in Florida with their two teenagers.

My Review:

When I found out I was to read The Golden Cross I  was very excited. Just reading a summary of this book intrigued me and after I was done (and did not want the story to end) I was so pleased! The Golden Cross is very historically accurate and Hunt's writings make you feel like you are right in the story itself. This is what I like best about books, particularly historical fiction. If I can visualize myself in the story, its a definite winner in my book. Aidan's journey was truly inspiring and captivating! I am going to have to go and read the first book in this series too, because I loved this one so much. What I liked best was that throughout Aidan's journey she hung on to her hope in the Lord and went for what she wanted! What an encouragement for life today.

I highly recommend this book!

Buy It: You can purchase The Golden Cross by Angela Elwell Hunt directly through Waterbrooke Multnomah. It can also be purchased through your local bookseller and on Amazon.com and Amazon.ca
