Corked: Book Review & Giveaway!
Meet Kathryn Borel, bon vivant and undutiful daughter. Now meet her father, Philippe, former chef, eccentric genius, and wine aficionado extraordinaire. Kathryn is like her father in every way but one: she's totally ignorant when it comes to wine. And although Philippe has devoted untold parenting hours to delivering impassioned oenological orations, she has managed to remain unenlightened. But after an accident and a death, Kathryn realizes that by shutting herself off to her father's greatest passion, she will never really know him.
About The Author:
Kathryn Borel lives in Toronto where she works at the Canadian Broadcasting Company. She has written food and wine reviews for radio and print. Corked is her first book.
Corked is a raw, real look at a father-daughter relationship that has both ups and downs. The book, a memoir, is written in such a way that I felt I was right in the scenes with the two main characters. A well written book that includes humor and heartache, good times and tragic times! Its a coming of age store for Kathryn when she realizes that her relationship with her father is not what it should be, and so she decides to make an effort to know him better, sooner rather than later. That is a life lesson for all of us...take the time now, because you never know what is in store for you tomorrow.
A good read and I give it a thumbs up.
