Snack Taxi: Review & Giveaway

As a mom of two young children, I am constantly bringing snacks to wherever it is we go. My diaper bag is always full of plastic bags and containers. While I find this method easy, it is not at all environmentally friendly. So I have been looking at new methods to transport snacks and other food products when out with my children.

One solution that I recently came across is the Snack Taxi. Snack Taxi's are reusuable bags for snack's and were created by Erin Kelly-Dill in 2003. She is a busy mom of three who packs over 500 lunches a year, and wanted an alternative to plastic baggies, which will only end up in the landfill.

The exterior of a snackTAXI is comprised of 100% cotton.  They are lined with a waterproof material that consists of nylon with a polyurethane coating. The nylon is free of heavy metals (including lead), phthalates, PBBs, and PBDEs. They come in a variety of fabrics and sizes, and I mean many, with new fabrics being introduced regularly!

I was sent four items to review! Thank you to Erin for generously sending me a complimentary snack sack, sandwich sack, twice as nice napkin, and reusuable produce bag!

The snack-sack neatly fits rice cakes, pretzels or corn chips, and is equally good for carrot or celery sticks! Dimensions: 6" W x 4.5" H

I love the snack sacks. I have been using them for the favorite snacks in my house...Goldfish crackers and mini rice cakes! They are the perfect size for these foods. I am going on a 12 hour car trip in June, and will definitely be needing snacks, and so I am definitely going to be looking at purchasing more of these in the near future!

The sandwich-sack is the perfect fit for a generous sandwich, bagel or wrap, or a hearty snack! Dimensions: 7.5" W x 6" H

Since my girls are too small for needing lunches sent to school, I am currently using the Sandwich sack for tissues, regular rice cakes, vegetables, and crackers or cookies. I have also used it for crayons and a small pad of paper, as well as small toys. Again, I will definitely be looking into purchasing more for my upcoming across country trip.

This Produce Sack is perfect for produce, as well as bulk foods like granola and rice. It's made of silicone impregnated nylon, which is both durable and light weight! Measurements: 10"W (20"opening circumference) x 18"L

I went grocery shopping the other night, and brought my Produce Sack along with me. I was able to fill it with five pears, and I feel so much better about not using plastic bags. I will definitely be getting more of these for buying and transporting my produce.

These handy napkins are twice-as-nice! They're reversible, which makes for more fun and durability, and they're small enough to toss in with a packed lunch! Measurements: 8"W x 14"L

I am currently using the Twice As Nice Napkins in my diaper bag as a emergency cloth for messy faces or diapers! I love that it can be used over and over, and I am not exposing my children's sensitive skin to chemicals often seen in baby wipes.

I would love to eventually collect enough of these napkins to use in my home daycare for cleaning faces and hands, as I love all the wonder patterns to choose from!  New fabrics are released the first of the month! Very kid friendly!

Overall, I love the quality of all the products I received. I love that they are made of earth friendly materials, made in a home based workshop, and all the products I received are so easy to clean. They can be machined washed and dried, or I can rinse them and air dry them (which I prefer, more "green").

Another huge benefit to me is that I am able to purchase the Snack Taxi locally here in Canada! I live in a small town in Southern Alberta, and the closest location for me to purchase the Snack Taxi products is in Calgary, only two hours from me. I was very happy to find this out!!! They are also available throughout the United States and have been even been featured on Oprah!

If you have children in your home, whether in school or not, you will definitely want to purchase Snack Taxi's to use! They will help to eliminate the use of plastic baggies and containers and rid the earth of the approximently 500 Billion to trillion plastic bags that are consumed worldwide each year! Each reusuable bag used has the potential to eliminate an average of 1000 plastic bags over its lifetime.
