Little Green Books: Review #2

As mentioned previously, I have had the awesome experience to work with Amanda over at Simon & Schuster to review some wonderful books that teach children about Earth Day and taking care of our Earth!  Here are a few more.

The Polar Bears' Home: A Story About Global Warming

This 8 x 8 paperback book is perfect-bound and will be printed on 100% post-consumer waste recycled paper with soy-ink. The paper is FSC certified.

A new "green" series!: Little Green Books will educate children on what they can do to be more eco-friendly. The books in this line will be made from recycled materials, and the storylines will cover subjects such as improving the environment, learning about endangered animals, recycling, and much more.

Review: This book was great! It takes a grown up topic like global warming and teaches it to children in a way that they can totally understand it. There is a lot of words in this book, so I believe it would be best for early elementary children who can read independently or enjoy being read to. Inside the cover is a list of eco-friendly terms and their definitions. A great resource to have. The book is nicely illustrated and would be a great addition to any home library or school classroom. There is even a section at the end of the book with ways we as people can help slow down global warming and help animals to thrive, not just survive, in their natural habitats. Recommened age is 4-6 years.

BUY IT: You can purchase The Polar Bears' Home online, directly through Simon and Schuster. It can also be purchased through your local bookseller.

I Can Save The Earth!: One Little Monster Learns To Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

Meet Max the Little Monster. He is a cute, furry green monster who is an environmental nightmare. Among other things, he leaves on all the lights, keeps his computer plugged in, blasts the TV, hoards his old toys and uses so much toilet paper it clogs the toilet until finally, his excessive ways cause a power outage. With no TV to watch, computer to play on, video games to play with, Max finds there is a whole big world outside that he can make a difference in the environment.

Kids can follow Max the Little Green Monster's journey to environmental awareness and learn tips on how they can become little green monsters themselves. A kid-friendly glossary of terms is included in the back of the book.

This 8x8 paperback is perfect bound and will be printed on 100% post-consumer waste recycled paper with soy-ink. The paper is FSC certified.

Review: A wonderful introduction to the 3 R's: reduce, reuse, and recycle. Includes definitions of eco-friendly terms, and is perfect for children ages 4-6. Even my three year old loved it. She is going through a stage where she is scared of monsters, (even Super Grover is off limits right now) but through this book, I was able to help her realize that they are just pretend, and Little Monster is a friendly one:) This book showed children many ways they can help to conserve energy, ways to recycle and reuse household items, and how great the Earth looks when we take care of it! Fantastic read and I highly recommend it!

This Is Our World: A Story About Taking Care Of The Earth

Do you know what today is? It is Earth Day! On Earth Day we work together to clean up the Earth. It's easy to pitch in.

You can pitch in, too! Join the fun on this interactive journey while learning to clean the air, reduce pollution, recycle, and more. Nine double-sided puzzle pieces are included in this book so kids can create two different puzzles! This board book is printed on 70% post consumer-waste recycled material.

Review: This is not only a wonderful teaching books, but the illustrations are so adorable. Also, I love the fact that it includes two puzzles! My three year old love that she had to search the pages for the puzzle pieces and then try to piece them together. One puzzle is five pieces, while the other is four pieces. Puzzles this size would normally be too easy for "M" but the pieces are double sided so that gave her a great challenge! After working on them with me a couple times, she was ready to try on her own and did great! I love that the book teaches children how to take care of the earth in different situations, such as at school, at the beach and in the vegetable garden. A great book for children ages 4-6, but also great if you have younger children around because it is a board book, so they can handle it without tearing! I highly recommend this book and give it a thumbs up!

BUY IT: You can purchase This Is Our World online, directly through Simon and Schuster. It can also be purchase through your favorite, local bookseller.
