Choosing Graditude: Book Review

About The Book:

Gratitude is a choice. If we fail to choose it, by default we choose ingratitude. And once allowed into the heart, ingratitude does not come by itself but with a lot of other seedy companions that only succeed in stealing joy. To not choose gratitude - daily and deliberately - is more costly than we usually realize. And when we do choose a lifestyle of heartfelt, humble gratitude, we are mindful of the benefits received from our gracious Savior and those He has placed around us. By intentionally thanking God and others, bitterness and entitlement are replaced with joy and the humble realization of just how undeserving we really are.

Derived from a popular
Revive Our Hearts radio series, Choosing Gratitude: Your Journey to Joy challenges and equips the reader to live a life of intention. A life based on thankfulness - for the freedom Christ has provided and for the blessings of others.

My Review:

Choosing Gratitude: Your Journey To Joy is the first of DeMoss' work that I have read. I am familiar with her from the radio and her website, but had never had the pleasure of reading her books until now. I am so glad I did. Choosing Gratitude is a well written book that will do exactly what the title states, take you on a journey. The main thing that I was reminded of during the reading of this book is that being grateful and joyous is a choice.

Everyday life brings us both good and bad experiences and through those experiences we must choose to be joyful regardless of what is happening. Whether a rough marriage, a serious illness, troublesome children, financial burdens, it does not matter what we are experiencing we can find joy in the toughest of times. When we are believers in the Lord, we know that "joy comes in the mourning" and we need to cling to that hope. This book will encourage the reader to be the joyful Christian God truly wants us to be!

I really loved that DeMoss shared her journey to joy throughout the book. It made it so much easier to not only read the book, but apply what she said because I knew she had experienced (and is still experiencing) her joy journey. I especially love the 30 devotional included at the back of the book. I will be going through that as part of my next set of devotional series.

If you want to learn about how to have more gratitude in your life and why, as Christians, we must, then you have to read Choosing Gratitude: Your Journey To Joy. You will not be disappointed, I know I wasn't!

I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up!
