Superior Soapnuts: A Review & Giveaway

As many of my readers are aware, I try to use as much "green" cleaning products as I can. It is becoming easier and easier to find eco-friendly products for cleaning your home, body and laundry. One company I have recently discovered is Superior Soapnuts

About Superior Soapnuts:

Superior Soapnuts is a Canadian company based in Upsala, Ontario in beautiful Lake Superior country.

Our soapnuts are the dried fruit from the Ritha (sapindus mukorossi) tree. There are other types of trees that produce a poorer grade of soapnuts. The ones we import contain very high amounts of saponin. Saponin is the substance which gives the soapnuts their cleaning power.
Many of these trees were once logged for income. Happily our supplier, among others, is harvesting the soapnuts which is a renewable resource. This is creating a sustainable income for Nepalese people in local areas.

Over the past year, we've taken our soapnuts to various trade shows, fairs, and functions. The response to this natural cleaner has been terrific. Needless to say we're very excited about this!

We believe that once you have tried using soapnuts, you will never want to go back to chemical detergents. There is no need to use fabric softeners either. Your clothes are left naturally soft. Towels and wash cloths are more absorbent.

Did you know that once used, soapnuts break down completely leaving no toxic chemical residue behind?  You can throw the used shells in the compost.

Soapnuts are ready to use with no chemical processing!   Straight off the tree they can be used for laundry.  They can be boiled to make an all purpose natural liquid cleaner. This can be used for household cleaning or for a body wash and   "shampoo". Soapnuts are great for anyone with chemical allergies or sensitive skin. Check out our recipes for some great ideas on how to use them.
How To Use Soapnuts:
Soapnuts are so easy to use. Only 4 or 5 nuts are needed to complete 4 or 5 loads of laundry! A 500g bag of Superior Soapnuts will do 200+ loads of laundry, making soapnuts not only an ecological alternative to detergent but an economical one as well. Soapnuts are safe for all types of clothing, and especially effective with cloth diapers. Though not highly effective with tough stains, soapnuts leave your cloths fresh, eliminating the need for fabric softeners. You can also use soapnuts for use in your dishwasher, washing your pets, yourself, and many other uses.

My Review:

I love soapnuts and was very excited to be able to review Superior Soapnuts. I have been trying a number of different "chemical free" laundry products over the last year, and by far my favorite has been soapnuts. Not only are they great for the environment but they help me cut off an insane amount of my laundry spending.
I recently bought a warehouse store size bottle of Brand name  liquid laundry soap and paid $25.00. I have only had it for two weeks and have already used about 1/4 of the bottle. It says it does 105 loads, and I have done probably 20 already. Now in comparison I received a 100g bag of Superior Soapnuts for review, which did approximently 30 loads of laundry...and it will only cost $5.00 to replace. I am definitely going to be buying more soapnuts and get the 500g bag which costs $20!!

I have very sensitive skin, as do my girls, and therefore, I am very careful about what laundry soaps I do use. When using Superior Soapnuts I have had no issues with rashes or itching! A definite plus in my books!

The customer service I received via email was excellent and the shipping was very quick, receiving the product within about a week and a half of it being sent out. Again a big plus!

If you want your clothes to have no residue, smell fresh and have no reactions on your body (like I do with my sensitve skin) then you have to try Superior Soapnuts!!! You will not be disappointed!

I highly recommend this product and give it a huge thumbs up!
