Queen Pin: A Memoir - Book Reivew and Giveaway

About Queen Pin:

Jemeker Thompson-Hairston paid a heavy price for her involvement in the drug game. Learning from her sources of a federal investigation, Jemeker went on the run. It was love for her young son that brought her back to Los Angeles, even though she knew she would be arrested. A subsequent 12-year sentence would cost her not only her legitimate business and the fortune she'd amassed through the drug trade, but the most precious thing of all: time with her child. But not all was lost. Fortunately, while Thompson-Hairston was serving out her sentence, one pivotal moment helped her turn her life around, setting her on a path to help and inspire others like her.

About The Author:

Jemeker Thompson-Hairston started the Second Chance Evangelist Ministries (SCEM) in South Central, Los Angeles, to inspire others like her. Her mission is to show children of God that there is always a second chance in life and He will forgive.

Jemeker currently lives in Los Angeles, California.

David Ritz's most recent bestseller is Tavis Smiley's
What I Know For Sure. He has also collaborated with Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, Laila Ali and B.B. King on their life stories. He has won a Grammy, a Deems Taylor ASCAP award, four Rolling Stone/Ralph J. Gleason book awards and is the co-composer of "Sexual Healing." He lives in Los Angeles.

My Review:

This was an incredible book! If you want to be encouraged and inspired then you NEED to read this book. For 12 years, Jemeker had to face the consequences of life choice made, but she did not let those choices nor the consequences keep her in the past. She wiped off the dust, and stood tall, giving her life to the Lord and moving forward full of His love, grace and forgiveness. In turn, Jemeker has inspired many people, including me. This book is a wonderful example that we do not have to let our pasts control our future. We have that choice, all of us. No matter what we have done, or had done to us, God will bring us through it, forgive us and give us the chance to do His will. We only have to surrender to Him, just as Jemeker Thompson-Hairston has done. This is a thought-provoking, well-written memoir that I will remember for a long time to come.

I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up!

  20. It is interesting that this book giveaway should come along at this time. A former student of mine was convicted of murder and is still to be sentenced. It really was self-defense, and his family wanted him to fight the conviction. He said that he was going to serve his time as he should not have been there in the first place. He will come out with a good attitude after learning from his mistake. I know that he will turn his life around. The book just reaffirms that it is possible to be a better person when we turn our life over to God.
