30 Meals In One Day: Review and Giveaway

In recent months I have discovered the art of Freezing Cooking! As a mom of two and owner of a home daycare, there is always a need for an abundance of food around my home. However, I do not like to be stuck in the kitchen all day, which inevitable can sometimes occur. Thanks to freezer cooking, I don't have to be. Usually twice a month, I do a larger than normal grocery shop and pick between 10 and 20 recipes to prep and freeze for future use. I love that I can pull something out of the freezer in the morning and not have to do anything major to prepare for the meal. Saves me time and allows me to spend extra quality time with my children and the children I care for during the day!

Since freezer cooking is so new to me, I am always on the hunt for new recipes to try. Recently, I was sent a freezer cooking program that I am so excited to tell you all about: 30 Meals In One Day!

My Review:

As I have mentioned, I am loving freezer cooking as of late, and after using the 30 Meals In One Day program, I am loving it even more!

This program accomplishes everything that it is designed to do: streamline meal prep, help you prepare a large amount of meals in short time that are delicious and nutritious, and give you all the tools you need to do it!

Over the last three weeks, I have used a number of the recipes in the program. I was sent the complete set of three books, software and labels to review. Dinner is Ready and Lunch is Ready are both divided up into the following sections, with each section having a number of recipes:

1. Slow cooker
2. Oven
3. Stove Top
4. Assemble

With Dinner Is Ready, I have tested 48 of the recipes. All were very easy to follow, and they were ALL big hits in my home. Because I have diabetes, I adapted some of the recipes, and found this was very easy to do, and did not compromise the taste at all. Some of my family's favorites from this collection included the Tuna Bow Ties, Ham Primavera, Oven Stew, Hawaiian Chicken, Minestrone, and Slow Cooked Chili, just to name a few.

With Lunch Is Ready, I have tested 19 of the recipes. Again, all easy to follow, great tasting and very adaptable to my diabetes diet. Some of my family's favorites included Mushroom Pizza Buns, Teriyaki Turkey Sandwiches, Beef Barbeque and Chicken, Tomato and Mushroom Soup.

Finally, with On The Side, it is set up a bit differently, with the categories of recipes as follows:

1. Vegetables
2. Rice
3. Pasta
4. Salad
5. Dressings and Sauces
6. Bread

I honestly did not use On The Side near as much as the other two books, but I did test out 5 recipes, all very easy to follow, easily adaptable for a diabetic diet, and tasted fantastic. I tested Corn Muffins, Catalina Dressing (marinated Chicken Breast in it and it was yummy!), Pineapple Coleslaw, Asparagus Linguine, and Lemon Garlic Angel Hair Pasta.

I spent time over two days doing cooking, and was overall, very impressed with the program. The software is a huge addition to the cookbooks. I installed the software very easily, and then went to town, picking out recipes I wanted to try, and it generated the shopping list with all the proper quantities I would need (for example, 15lb Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breast, 15lb ground beef). This saved me so much time. My only concern was that many of the recipes are not what you would call "low fat" or special diet friend, particularly diabetic friendly. However, many of the recipes I tested were easily adaptable, for example, where sugar was needed I added Splenda instead, I used low sodium "cream of..." soups, low sodium soy sauce, etc. These substitutions did not effect taste at all, and that is a huge plus in my book.

I also love that each book is full of useful tips and information to make your freezer cooking experience as successful and stress free as possible. This is a great feature in my books!

I am planning to do a freezer cooking day with a group of friends in September and we are going to use the 30 Meals In One Day program. I will let you all know how that goes! In the meantime, I highly recommend this program and give it a huge thumbs up!

  44. This looks really neat! I'd be very interested in trying: Honey Barbequed Ribs (2nd recipe on the page! FULL STOP!) I was also looking at the lunch recipes and the shredded pork sandwiches looked good - but couldn't those be done in a crockpot too? She's doing them in the oven for 5 hours.
