Celebrate Dora's Birthday: Book Review and Giveaway

Not only am I a mom of a toddler and preschool, but I am a mom of two girls. Which goes without saying that Dora The Explorer is huge in our home. From bedding to toys to DVD's, Dora has invaded the Rempel household. Not that I mind. The girls love her and they have learned a lot from her - colors, counting, language, math skills, etc.

Dora The Explorer is celebrating 10 years on the air on August 14, 2010 and to celebrate, Simon and Schuster sent me a Dora The Explorer Birthday Book Bundle to review. My girls were ecstatic when I showed them the books. Needless to say, we have read them daily (at least once) since receiving them.

Let's Read With Dora:

This great Dora Ready-to-Read collection has two Pre-Level 1 stories and four Level-1 stories that are perfect for young readers! The collection includes: Just Like Dora!; I Love My Mami!; Dora and the Rainbow Kite Festival; Dora's First Trip; The Puppy Twins and Dora's Sleepover. This collection is perfect to travel with or snuggle up and read to little ones at night. Come on, let's read with Dora!

My Review:

This is a fantastic collection of Dora Stories for all stages of reading levels. The Dora fan in your home will love the adventures that Dora and the gang go on throughout the entire book. Full of bright illustrations, it is easy to read and designed for children ages 3 - 6 years. My girls loved the book so much they will sit through all six stories in one reading!

Happy Birthday Dora:

It's Dora's birthday and she's having a big birthday bash. All of her family and friends will be there. Will you come to the party, too?

My Review:

This is a delightful board book, designed for children ages 2-5 years. My girls really like this book, and loved that all the characters from their favorite TV show were included. You will find Tico, Boots, Swiper, The Fiesta Band, Alicia and Deigo and everyone else gathered to celebrate Dora's birthday. I love that it is a board book, so even the youngest of Dora The Explorer fans can enjoy the book, without the fear of ripping pages.

Dora and the Birhtday Wish Adventure:

Dora and Boots are off on an adventure in Wizzle Kingdom to help the Birthday Wizzle make birthday wishes come true.

My Review:

Another wonderful adventure had my girls learning the Spanish words for "Happy Birthday" (Feliz cumpleanos!), "Hello" (Hola), "Let's Go!" (Vamonos!), and "Thank You" (Gracias). Since watching Dora, and her cousin Deigo, my girls will now regularly say "Gracias" when saying "Thank you" to me and their dad. It is so cute! This book once new characters to introduce to your child: Unicorn, Twin Dinosaurs, and the Wizzle. Children ages 3-7 years will enjoy this book. It is a great one to read to your child, and then have them use to practice their own reading skills, as they develop.

Dora's Princess Party:

Dora's throwing a princess party and you're invited! Come along as she visits all of her fairytale friends in this adorable format with 5 play scenes and more than 60 reusable paper stickers to decorate them!

My Review:

Okay, so this book combines my 3.5 year old two favorite things in the world: Dora and Princess! Dora's Princess Party has kept my daughters entertained for hours with all the stickers, that we have only read the actual story a few times. That is totally fine with me, because as I have observed my oldest with this book, I have heard her "act out" Dora stories of her own. She even had me write down her own Dora story! We had a lot of fun with that! Again this book is suitable for children ages 3-6 years and will provide a ton of entertainment for the Dora fan in your home.

Dora's Wizzle World Adventure:

Dora and Boots are stuck in Wizzle World! Can you help them make a wish that will send them back home?

My Review:

Dora's Wizzle World Adventure is a Ready-To-Read Level 1 book that will help your child recognize words using word recognition, familiar words and phrases and simple sentences. Inside the cover of the book is an explanation of the Ready-To-Read program for parents, and within the book, you will find Rebus Icons to help your early reader. My girls love d the icons. When I got to an icon, I would not say the word right away, as I wanted to see if the girls would remember the word we needed to say. Sure enough after the first page, they got it! This is another great Dora The Explorer adventure sure to please the Dora fan in your home!
