Then in January 2010, I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and realized that I had to step up my efforts in my weight loss journey. I will be the first one to admit I am an emotional eater and a habitual evening snacker. I was very happy to read Cinch! and see that it can help a person overcome emotional eating, by making some really simple changes in your life. At the same time, you will become happier and loss weight too! There is a combination I can handle.
The book is loaded with fantastic ideas and tricks to overcome emotional eating, including charts to write down how you are feeling when you eat, great sounding recipes and a 5-day jump start to get your metabolism on track. The first five days of the program you eat spinach, raspberries, almonds, organic eggs, and nonfat plain organic yogurt. The book also gives you a list of foods and beverages that are good for the 30 day program. Sass also includes three rules that will help your 30 day program be successful:
1. Eat Like Clockwork - eat breakfast within one hour of waking up, and every 3-5 hours after that
2. Think "Five Pieces, Four Times A Day" - the way to organize your meals (produce, a whole grain, lean protein, plant based fat, and seasonings)
3. Make Flavor Your Focus - seasonings are a good thing; season meals with at least one of vinegar, citrus juice or zest, hot peppers, tea or herbs and spices.
I am about half through the book and am looking forward to January and really working through the program. There is so much to process through it and I will be blogging more about this program in January so stay tuned!
