Leslie Sansone's Walk At Home DVD Review

Since being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes last January I have been trying a number of different types of workouts to help keep my blood sugar levels under control. I have tried a number of different ones, and yet walking is my favorite form of exercise. About two months ago, I was delighted to learn about Leslie Sansone's Walk At Home, and I have been hooked ever since.

About Walk At Home:

Walk At Home is a system of walking-based moves that allow you to choose the number of miles you’d like to walk — 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 miles. It’s multi-muscle walking that burns more calories than a stroll around the block!

My Review:
I have officially found my new go-to workout system. I LOVE the Walk At Home program so much! It is so easy to follow, and I love that you don't even realize how quick the miles go. Most days I will do a minimum of three miles. There have been times I have done as many as six.
One thing I do with her workouts is to split them up during the day.  As a stay at home mom, I will workout in the morning before children are awake, to pump up a start to my day. Then during nap time, I try to get a mile in and then in the evening I will try to get another longer walk in (usually 2 miles).
The biggest thing I love about the Walk At Home program is that you only need to know four basic steps and they are super easy! Anyone can do them. Hey, my four year old even stands beside me and walks. She thinks her mommy looks silly but I love that I am teaching her the importance of exercise and healthy living.
I received two of the Walk At Home Programs to review.
First, Walk the Walk, which is a great walking program that is Christian inspired with praise and worship music and a prayer time, along with a fantastic 1 and 2 mile walk. You can very easily do one or the other, or both with a total workout time of 59 minutes.
Second, I received the Walk-Eat-Lose Program, and if you are looking for a challenge and a way to step up your walking workout, this is the workout you want.  A slightly higher energy version of her basic walking program, you will be encouraged to bring your workout to a higher level, while still keeping it easy to learn and follow.  The meals are all very easy to follow, and very affordable. Nothing fancy but definitely does not lack taste and nutrition value!
I found both workouts wonderful. The four basic steps are walking in place, side steps, knee lifts and kickbacks. You will also do some gentle jogging, and use the body boost cables, and resistance bands to incorporate strength training.  I have enjoyed these two programs so much that I have purchased several other Walk At Home programs, and I am hoping to pick up the Walking Down Your Blood Sugar DVD soon.
I also loved the DVD's so much that I became a member of the Walk At Home Walk Club. For $29.99 A YEAR you get access to member's only online videos with workouts that change monthly, meal plan ideas, a calendar with workout ideas, monthly challenges, a forum to chat with other members, recipe ideas, great articles, a 15% discount at the Walk At Home Store, and more! You can't even join a gym for this cost, it is so worth it!
Since starting with the Walk At Home Program, I have more energy, enjoy my workouts more, and have found it much easier to have the motivation to workout. I have lost about 12lb since November and just love how I am feeling.
As with all workout programs, please talk with your doctor before starting any new exercise program, to make sure it is suitable for you.
If you are looking to make 2011 your healthiest year yet, I highly recommend the Walk At Home Program from Leslie Sansone. You will not regret it. I know I haven't.
BUY IT: You can purchase the Walk The Walk DVD and Walk-Eat-Lose 21 Day Challenge DVD's directly on the Walk At Home website, along with many more fantastic programs.
