Love Food and Live Well: A Book Review

About The Book:

Go ahead. Get passionate about the food you eat.

You don’t have to hide it. You can love food and lose weight at the same time! The secret, which you’ll learn about in Love Food and Live Well, is to know when to have carrot cake and when it’s time for just a carrot.

For most dieters, food is the daunting factor that trips up our best intentions to lose weight and get fit. Let Chantel Hobbs teach you that food is not the enemy! It’s our attitudes toward it that defeat us. Losing weight does not require being deprived of the foods you love and being forced to eat boring, tasteless meals, and left feeling hungry most of the time. Turn food into your ally by following Chantel’s 80/20 rule: A full 20 percent of the time, splurge on the foods you love and incorporate them into celebrations and social occasions. The remaining 80 percent of the time, choose food on the basis of delivering maximum fuel for your body and ultimate health. Simply by having freedom in what you eat, you can train yourself in self discipline and achieve sustainable weight loss, being free from food anxiety.

Using personal inventories, original recipes, food plans, and new, detailed exercises for strength training and aerobic fitness, Chantel will inspire you to live well in every area of life. What are you waiting for? Start the pursuit of a life lived well and healthy: body, mind, and spirit.

My Review:

I have had the opportunity to review Hobbs' previous work, The One Day Wayt, so was very happy to have the opportunity to review her latest release, Love Food and Live Well.

Love Food and Live Well will give you all the tools you will need to not only lose unwanted weight, but keep it off. Throughout this very well organized and easy to read book, there is a ton of information. As you go through the book, you will learn:

***the 80/20 rule and just how important it will be for your weight loss journey (eat clean 80% of the time, and enjoy the "yummy treats" the other 20% - doing this helps you maintain your weight loss and stay successful)

***the importance of clinging to your faith in God as you journey to better health. It is only through Him that you will find all the strength you will need

***great recipes and tips to making your favorite treats and meals healthy and nourishing

***stretches and exercises with photos (black and white) and easy to follow instructions

***how carbohydrates, fats and proteins all work together and how to balance these in our food to be as healthy as we can be

This book has so much information and I really went through it very fast for the purpose of this review. However, I received this book at a very good time, as I (along with many of you) am making 2011 the year I take charge of my health and loss this extra 54lb I have been carrying around for far too long. I am now going to go through the book in a far more studious manner and apply the many tips Hobbs writes about.

If you are looking for a book that will show you how to diet in order to lose weight, this is NOT the book for you. But, if you are looking instead for a book that will help you to make a complete lifestyle change with God by your side the entire time, this IS the book you will want to read.

Also, the website above is full of wonderful information, tips and even a contract you can sign to start your journey to a better, healthy life today!

I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up.

BUY IT: You can purchase Love Food and Live Well by Chantel Hobbs online through WaterBrook Multnomah - it is also available through your favorite local Christian bookseller.
