What's In The Bible Volume 4 DVD: Review

Throughout this last year I have had the opportunity to review the first three DVD projects in the What's In The Bible Series for children. You can see my review here.

I have loved them, and most importantly, my children have. They are from the creator of Veggie Tales, and give children an in-depth look at the Bible in fun and interactive ways.

I am very excited to share with you the fourth installment of this series, Battle For The Promised Land.

About What's In The Bible:

What’s in the Bible? is a new DVD series from VeggieTales creator Phil Vischer designed to walk kids and families through the entire Bible. The 13 DVD-series will release beginning March 1, 2010.

In 1990, 24-year-old computer-animator Phil Vischer sat down to create a group of characters that could teach Christian values to kids in a delightfully different way. A tomato named Bob and a cucumber named Larry were born. VeggieTales would go on to revolutionize Christian filmmaking, selling more than 50 million videos and placing Phil’s faith-filled stories in one in every three American households with young children. Phil continues to pursue innovative new ways to integrate faith and storytelling through his new company, Jellyfish Labs. His projects include Jelly Telly, which provides faith-based daily programming via the internet at JellyTelly.com

About Volume Four: The Battle For The Promised Land:

Buck Denver and friends continue their quest to learn about the Bible in number four of the 13What’s in the Bible? DVDs. In Battle for the Promised Land, they visit Old Testament books Joshua, Judges and Ruth.
Battle for the Promised Land! Contains two 25-minute episodes

My Review:
Once again, the What's In The Bible development team has come up with another great way to get kids interested in learning about the Bible.
My girls' favorite parts of all the DVD's including this fourth one, is the puppets, especially Buck Denver. They also love to dance around to all the music. I know that as they grow, they will become more interested in the facts being taught, but at only 4 and 2 years, they love music, and I know that the information in the songs is already making an impact. The message of God's faithfulness and forgiveness is seen throughout The Battle For The Promised Land. I love that even though the What's In The Bible Series is directed for children, even adults can learn a ton from watching these fun DVD's. The topics discussed are pretty deep, but the whole series answers questions about the Bible in a fun, easy to understand manner, using puppetry, and music. A great way to open up family discussions about the Bible! I love it and cannot wait to see what is in store for volume 5.
If your family has loved the Veggie Tales line of DVD's and products, then you will love the What's In The Bible series as well. I highly recommend them and give this fourth DVD a huge thumbs up.

  1. Shirley - thanks for the review! It's most helpful, as we are always trying to find new ideas to get the Word into our children's lives. Children's Bible is an app designed for children 3-13 & shares Bible stories through comics. It is available for most smart phones & computers. We have found this is a great way to get our children in the habit of reading the Bible, & it's on their level. They have really enjoyed it & we are thrilled at their excitement with the Word. Just something we have found that works & wanted to pass along - check it out at childrenbible.org - Thanks for all you share!
