Turnaround: Turning Fear Into Freedom - Review and Giveaway

Childhood fear is not an uncommon issue with many families, however, sometimes these fears can turn into debilitating anxiety problems. Childhood anxiety issues is not just an issue for the child, but for the entire family.

Do you have a child that struggles with anxiety and are you looking for a fun way to help combat this issue? Then I have a wonderful product that I cannot wait to tell you about!

What Is Turnaround?

Turnaround: Turning Fear Into Freedom is a professionally developed audio treatment program that teaches your child how to stop anxious thoughts, calm uncomfortable feelings, and use proven strategies to overcome anxiety. Based on the most effective treatment for child anxiety (CBT), Turnaround uses a story to invite your child to join six other anxious children on an imaginary 10-day camping adventure that teaches them how to break free from their fears. It is professional AND very child friendly. Your child will want to listen, guaranteed!

What Makes Turnaround Unique?

Turnaround speaks directly to your child.  Programs available for children address you the parent and expect you to implement complex treatment techniques with your child. YOU are expected to be the therapist, which clinical experience shows is not effective. In the Turnaround adventure, your child joins six other anxious children, two "docs", two mentor teens, and a cast of animated characters- all designed to capture your child's attention in order to effectively teach them. Your child will psychologically join and bond with the group. Kids tell us how much they love the characters and the entertaining stories. Just imagine how much your child will learn by being personally invested in the story! It's a format that's truly unique and highly effective!

  • Utilizes Social Learning TheoryPioneer researcher, Dr. Albert Bandura discovered that children learn best from other children. In Turnaround, your child will hear many different vignettes of children sharing stories of struggle and success. Additionally, we created some really fun animated characters that assist in teaching the material, like Kerplop the talking Beaver, Krank the Samurai warrior, Chill the laid back surfer dude, andWatson the detective. We tapped into the talents of 14 child actors and 6 adult actors (see Cast) to create a fun, kid friendly program that your child will want to listen to. Click HERE to read about the many benefits of Turnaround for your child.

  • Developed by licensed credentialed therapistsUnlike most authors of materials found on the Internet, we have over 30 years ofclinical experience between us. We are trained therapists who have successfully treated children and adults with anxiety disorders of all kinds. Combining our skills with the talents of a nationally recognized children's book illustrator (CB Canga), an award-winning music composer (Chad Lawson), a creative art director who's done work with Disney and Warner Bros (St. Dwayne Design), and a first-rate audio production studio (SoundPost), we created a program that is top-notch in every way.  When comparing, check credentials and quality of production. (Click HERE to learn more about the creators of Turnaround)

My Review:
I have been absolutely amazed by the Turnaround program. As an early childhood educator since 1998, I have seen a number of children that have experienced anxiety issues, yet I have never seen a way to dealing with these issues that are specific for children. Until now.
I have taken a long time to review the Turnaround program, and I am so glad that I did. It is designed for children over six years of age, and though my daughter enjoyed listening to some of the narrative, she did quickly lose interest (she is only 4). However, I was able to use parts of the program to help her learn to calm herself down prior to a big meltdown. (Chill Kit) At only four, temper tantrums can be normal, however now she has the tools to recognize when, and why, she is upset and knows how to express these feelings in a much more effective and calm manner!
That said, the design of the program and the fact that it is children speaking on the accompanying CD's is the highlight of this program to me.
From an early age, we know that children learn from what they see and experience, and they model almost everything they see (good or bad). So what better way to help a child through their fears and anxiety than other children! What a fantastic job the creators of Turnaround have done! It is written and set up so that your child will immediately be engaged and learn valuable lessons as they work through the program!
But the Turnaround program is not only for children. It comes with 2 CD's full of wonderful information for parents, and a CD with information about current medications used to deal with anxiety disorders  The children in the 10 Day Adventure on the CD's suffer with the following anxiety disorders: Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Perfectionism, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Panic Attacks, Separation Anxiety, and Social Phobia. If your child is dealing with any of these issues, they will love the adventure that go in with these fun and exciting characters. The workbook that is included has some fantastic activities including wordsearches, and scavenger hunts, that will help your child work through their fears in a fun way!
If your family is dealing with Childhood Anxiety issues, I cannot recommend this program enough. It is by far the best one I have ever seen or heard of. I give Turnaround a HUGE thumbs up!

  8. I learned how common childhood anxiety issues are. My son suffers from anxiety issues and until I was faced with this in my own home I had no idea how severe it can be and how common it is. More awareness and education needs to be spread on this topic. The Turnaround program looks great! I would love to try it.

  9. I would love to try the program. We aren't getting very far with the therapist and now she wants him to start meds. I don't want to go there! Thanks!

  10. Their website says that the program Turnaround provides children "a recipe" to follow. I need that. I am trying to go through vague directions from books and the therapist and I am lost! I would love to try the program. We aren't getting very far with the therapist and now she wants him to start meds. I don't want to go there! Thanks!
