DID YOU KNOW?
- We poison our children and pets to kill a fly
- The dirtiest, most polluted homes are often the ones that look and smell "clean"
In The Healthy Home, father and son team, Dr. Myron Wentz and Dave Wentz, walk readers room-by-room through a typical house, pointing out the surprising health risks posed by everyday products and behaviors of any modern family.
From the bedroom to the backyard, and with the help of colorful illustrations, you will learn about the negative effects of commonly-found toxins and receive simple solutions to help minimize exposure without foregoing convenience.
From examining the cleanliness of the air in your home versus a city during rush hour, to determining the effects of high-frequency radiation from wireless technology, to revealing the dangerous source of that "new car smell," The Healthy Home gives people the power to make a long-term impact on their own health and that of their loved ones. For the last couple years I have been trying to live a more "clean and green" lifestyle and incorporating clean living ideas within in my home.
As I read through The Healthy Home, I was very pleased to see many of the same things I do mentioned in the book. For example, not using dryer sheets but instead focusing on natural materials like cotton and linens, in order to avoid toxic chemicals. I personally either use nothing in my dryer, hang dry or use a dryer ball.
The book was a real eye-opener to me about how unclean and unhealthy our homes really can be. Not only that, but how we can move from toxic homes to healthy homes by making very simple changes. The book is divided into six chapters, covering areas of the home such as the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living areas, the garage and yard. Seriously, this book covers it all!
You will learn the importance of:
***cutting out sodium, bad fats, and how to put together a healthy diet
***healthy household cleaning using simple ingredients like vinegar, baking soda and water
***how to protect your plastic containers from leaching dangerous chemicals, and switching out plastic all together
***the truth about flouride in water
***and so much more
If you are looking for a comprehensive book that will give you some great ideas to have a healthy home and really open your eyes to the hidden dangers in your home, I highly recommend reading The Healthy Home by Dr. Myron Wentz and Dave Wentz. You will not be disappointed.
I give this book a huge thumbs up!
