Big Truths For Little Kids: A Review

About The Book:

These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Deuteronomy 6:6-7a
Your children are a blessing from God. A gift that brings an abundance of joy and the privilege of teaching them God's ways. When they're young their potential to learn is amazing. And because actions and beliefs go hand in hand, the lessons they learn from you now will shape their lives forever.
This wonderful book, with its easy-to-use story format, can help you teach the basic truths of the Christian faith to your children. They'll learn right along with Caleb and Cassie that God's ways are the best—and that even as kids, they can live for His glory every day

My Review:
This is a fantastic book that will teach your child the basics of the First Catechism, taught with fun, short, easy to read stories. Each story is only 2-3 pages with five questions that are derived from the First Catechism. First you introduce the questions, then read the story, and finally there is a Let's Talk section with questions to review the story, as well as a prayer that you can pray together with your child. Each story has really cute black and white illustrations as well.
My four and a half year old and I have only read a couple of the stories but she really enjoys them, and using Big Truths for Little Kids has already prompted some great questions from her, and a great way for us to have age-appropriate conversions about theology.
Big Truths For Little Kids teaches very adult theology in very understandable ways with the same characters throughout - they will meet Daniel, Cassie, Angus and more. This is a very God-centered and Scripturally strong book that I highly recommend for children ages 3-10. We use this book currently as part of our family Bible reading time before the girls' bedtime, and I am so excited to introduce them Christianity in a fun and easy to understand manner. This book would also be fantastic for homeschooling families and also Christian Elementary Schools. Even if you did not grow up using Catechism growing up, or now, this book is a valuable resource for all families, within any denomination of Christianity (ie: Mennonite, Baptist, Catholic, etc)
I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up!
