The Deepest Waters: A Book Review

About The Book:

For John and Laura Foster, what began as a fairytale honeymoon in 1857 aboard the steamship SS Vandervere soon becomes a nightmare. A terrible hurricane strikes and the grand ship is lost in the murky depths of the Atlantic. Laura finds herself rescued with the other women and children, but how can she feel anything but despondent without her groom? Suspecting her John is gone but still daring to hope for a miracle, Laura must face the possibility of life alone.

Talented author Dan Walsh skillfully tells an epic story of hope, faith, and love through an intimate lens. Inspired by real events, this emotional and honest story will capture your heart as you sail through its pages.

My Review:

I have had the wonderful pleasure of reading The Unfinished Gift (see my review here) and The Homecoming (see my review here) by Dan Walsh, so was very happy to be able to review his third novel, The Deepest Waters. Simply book, what a fantastic read. Once again, Walsh does not disappoint.

The Deepest Waters will take you on a historical journey that includes romance and suspense, and includes very vivid detail that makes you feel like you are right in the middle of each page, experiencing what the characters do. The characters are extremely well developed, and easily likable, and the book very well written.

The book covers themes such as social class differences, love, romance, family dynamics, and the ever-present love of God, through all of life's trials and tribulations. He will always be there for us, not only through the good times but also the storms. He gives us strength when we can't. This is seen throughout The Deepest Waters. I also appreciated the author including historical facts regarding the writing of the book at the end.

I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up.
