The Life Ready Woman: Book Review

About The Book:

Are you a ‘Doing it all’ or ‘Do what matters’ woman?

Whether a stay at home; or working mom, an airplane-hopping executive, an empty-nester caring for multiple generations or a single juggling high demands of career and personal life, today's fast-paced modern world leaves women gasping for balance. We as modern Christian women want to look to the Bible for guidance on how to manage our lives -- but because the world of women looks so different today than it did when the Bible was written, it is hard to find chapter and verse that seems to apply to our situation today.
Thankfully, God has given us exactly that timeless, unchanging guidance for how to find peace, clarity, and God's best for our lives once we know where to look! The Life Ready Woman: Thriving in a Do-It-All World, reveals a profound biblical roadmap for how each of us can find the abundant life we are longing for, rather than the stressful, torn, how-do-I-balance-it-all life we often feel like we are trying to keep up with today. Actually being a LifeReady Woman means that you are clear about your life, bold in your faith, and able to find God’s best for you, and the end result will be that you not only survive but thrive in our do-it-all world.
God has given every wonderfully unique woman different skills and abilities, different desires, and different temperaments -- and every woman around the planet and through the ages is certainly living in different circumstances. But no matter what a woman’s life looks like, the Bible says that God has an individual mission and plan that He’s carefully designed for each of us. And He wants us to find it. Starting January 2011, The Life Ready Woman and the Life Ready Woman Video Series will help every wonderfully unique woman to thrive as she identifies and courageously pursues God's unique design and callings for her. LifeReady Woman puts you on a roadmap to make decisions that will lead to relief, delight, and fulfillment instead of regret.

About The Author:

Shaunti Feldhahn began her career as an analyst on Wall Street and today is a bestselling author, speaker, and nationally-syndicated newspaper columnist.  Her recent bestsellers have sold more than one million copies and have been translated into 18 different languages.  The books in her popular “Only” series, including For Women Only: What You Need to Know About the Inner Lives of Men, and For Men Only: A Straightforward Guide to the Inner Lives of Women, For Parents Only and For Young Women Only (both of which were co-authored with youth speaker Lisa Rice), and For Young Men Only (co-authored with husband Jeff Feldhahn and Eric Rice, husband to Lisa Rice) have led to great life-change—and plenty of fascinating conversation—for men, women, parents and teens around the country. She has also authored two true-to-life spiritual thrillers.
After launching her latest book, The Male Factor: The Unwritten Rules, Misperceptions and Secret Beliefs of Men in the Workplace, on The Today Show in January 2010, Shaunti is now speaking to corporate groups about her surprising findings. This knowledge has proven to be of great interest to talented, high-potential women in the workplace as well as to men who want to cultivate positive working relationships.  Women in the workplace can avoid unintentional self-sabotage and be particularly effective and influential with male bosses, colleagues, clients or subordinates.  For more information about The Male Factor for faith-based organizations click here, and to find out more about The Male Factor for the general market (non-faith-based organizations) click here.

One reason Shaunti’s books, talks and columns have hit such a nerve is that she applies her background as an analyst in a whole new way.  She holds a master’s in public policy from Harvard University, and a bachelor’s in government and economics from The College of William & Mary.   Prior to becoming an author, she worked in the financial arena on Capitol Hill and later on Wall Street, analyzing the Japanese financial crisis for the highest level decision makers of the Federal Reserve System.  She now applies that same skill set to investigating eye-opening truths that many of us tend to miss.  (For example, what women don’t ‘get’ about men!)

As a popular national speaker and broadcaster, Shaunti travels extensively and has shared her findings with millions of people through conferences, television, and radio. She has appeared on such diverse media outlets as Fox News, PBS, TNT, Soap Talk, The Alan Colmes Show, Focus on the Family, and FamilyLife Today. Her weekly opinion column was printed in fifty plus newspapers around the country, including the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, the Detroit Free Press, the Seattle Times, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and many others in every corner of the country. However, due to the economic downturn and the difficulties in the newspaper industry that caused the failure of one hundred newspapers, we are regretfully having to say good-bye to the column.
Shaunti and her husband Jeff, with whom she coauthored For Men Only, are active leaders in their Atlanta-area church and, as parents of young children, enjoy every minute of living at warp speed.  They have become quite good at juggling T-ball games, ballet lessons, Jeff’s business (software company World2one), and family speaking trips with the whole traveling circus in tow.   As their favorite shirts put it, “Life is good.”

My Review:

The Life Ready Woman is a very detailed and well-written book that will help you journey through the God-given roles that a woman is to have in her lifetime. Written in an easy to understand manner, a lot of real-life experiences and a ton of scripture references to back up her writing, the is very well worth the read. What I loved about the book is that it allows women to realize they can do all the things they want to in life, but realize that there is a time for everything and as long as it is in line with God's will for your life, it can be done. All without it having to be down right now. The Life Ready Woman is a deep read and I will definitely be going through it again to pick out all the applicable nuggets for my own life. A great look into what Biblical Womanhood should, and can, be.

I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up.
