Lucky: A Book Review

About The Book:

Glenn Packiam redefines the word lucky in the context of Jesus' beatitudes in Luke's Gospel.

Lucky uncovers how the poor, hungry, mourning and persecuted are blessed because the Kingdom of heaven-its fullness, comfort, and reward-is theirs in spite of their condition. This is Christ's announcement: the Kingdom of God has come to unlikely people.

Like the people Jesus addressed, we are called lucky notbecause of our pain or brokenness but because in spite of it, we have been invited into the Kingdom. The trajectory of our lives have been altered. What's more, we now have a part in the future that God is bringing. Like Abraham, we have been blessed to carry blessing, to live as luck-bearers to the unlikely and unlucky.

About The Author:

Glenn Packiam is an Associate Worship Pastor and Director of New Life Worship at New Life Church. He was one of the founding worship leaders for the Desperation Band, and his worship songs are sung in churches all over the world. Glenn and his wife, Holly, and their daughters, Sophia and Norah, live in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

My Review:

As you read through Lucky by Glenn Packiam you will be taken through The Beatitudes as taught in the gospel of Luke. With scripturally sound writing, Packim takes you on a journey that will remind you that we are lucky because of Him, and only Him. We are lucky because we have made the choice to follow God and do His will. As a result of that we now have to take the next step and be, as Packiam calls us, luck-bearers. This book explains how we can do that in an easy to read fashion that includes discussion questions at the end of each chapter. A fantastic resources for Adult Sunday Schools or small group studies alike.

If you are looking for a book that will challenge and inspire you, I highly recommend Lucky! You will not be disappointed.  I give this book a huge thumbs up and it is one I will go through more deeply in the near future.
