Get Into Character with Thor: A Hasbro Review and Giveaway!

One of the blockbuster movie's of Summer 2011 was Marvel Studio's THOR! If you haven't seen it, here is a brief plot synopsis:

The epic adventure Thor spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the mystical realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. As a result, Thor is banished to Earth where he is forced to live among humans. When the most dangerous villain of his world sends its darkest forces to invade Earth, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero.

Does your child like to play superhero and save the world from the bad guys?

Now Hasbro has partnered up with Marvel to enhance your child's superhero play!

THOR Helmet:

Make super hero action “come alive” with this awesome Armor of Asgard Thor Helmet. When villains rear their ugly heads and you’ve got to save the day, put on your helmet to feel just like your favorite hero! With its details that make the action as realistic as can be, you can wear this mask as long as you want to — or until the villains are defeated!

THOR Action Figure:

The mighty Thor has protected the divine realm of Asgard since the beginning of time. With his powerful hammer in hand, and his fellow warriors by his side, he is an invincible barrier between the city and its enemies.
Even the very toughest opponents are no match for you and your Thor figure! When villains rear their ugly heads, engage them in hand-to-hand combat with your heroic fighter. His mighty muscles are only a hint of his massive strength. With that kind of power, you’re sure to win this fight!

My Review:

As a mom and early childhood educator, I love watching children's imaginations come to life as they play. Whether it's in the kitchen center, with dolls, or dress up, role playing can add up to many uninteruppted hours of play! With my girls I see alot of girl play, like dolls, house, and tea parties. However, when the little boys in my family child care program get in the mix there is superhero play galore! And I don't mind. A lot of early learning professionals will try to discourage superhero play, as it can tend to border on violent play. However with a little teacher intervention, I have been able to keep superhero play not only safe but fun! And now Hasbro has added a whole new element to my pretend play area!

All three pieces from the Hasbro/Marvel THOR collection that I was generously sent to review have been HUGE hits in my home. It has been a long time since I have seen the amount of superhero play going on and I love it! Bad guys are being taken care on a daily basis in my home, and the princesses are being saved at the same time. Okay, don't think there were princesses in THOR but someone needs rescuing I am sure! The favorite piece of all was the Hammer as it makes thunder sounds and lights up for extra dramatic flair!

If you are looking for a fun way to add imagination to your child's play, I highly recommend all the THOR collection from Hasbro!

  10. our son is a Lego fanatic so I like to challenge him with things to build. He's created a whole "Mom-room" complete with coffee maker and something to put my feet up on, he's made transformers out of Bionicle pieces and today he created a weapon to fling "manure" at soldiers trying to attack villagers. With our daughter we'll read a book or watch a movie and then recreate parts of it with drawings or acting or dress-up. So fun!
