Let's Get Real: A Book Review

About The Book:

By studying seven essentials based on God's Word and His Son for a fulfilling marriage, you and your spouse will be inspired to make your marriage thrive.

Let's Get Real workbook outlines the same principles for revitalizing marriage that the Forehands teach at conferences across the country. Through practicing these principles, you’ll become empowered by God’s truth to be more authentic and intimate with one another.

About The Authors:

Dale and Jena Forehand are sought-after speakers and conference leaders through their Let’s Get Real marriage conferences. They are also regular keynote speakers for Lifeway’s Festival of Marriage. The amazing grace story of their own divorce and remarriage to one another adds powerful credibility to the messages they share about building authentic, God-honoring marriages. Together they founded Stained Glass Ministries and have published numerous books and study guides. They reside in Birmingham, Alabama, with their children, Cole and Jorja.

My Review:

Are you in a Christian marriage that seems to be missing something, on the brink of divorce, but not sure how to fix things and get back the spark that you once had? If so, I recently had the chance to read a book, that I think all couples need to read.

The Forehands have come back from a crumbling marriage, divorce and re-marriage (to one another) to develop a marriage book and video series that have helped countless couples get back their marriage to where God intended to be.

Throughout the book, Dale and Jena Forehand draw on their experiences to show the reader that in order for a marriage to be authentic, you must be real and honest (sometimes, brutally), and be willing to work at it. Even a Christian marriage is not immune to hurts, frustrations and more serious situations like infidelity and pornography. But there is hope, because of Christ.

Let's Get Real was incredibly encouraging and gave me a lot to think about. How I respond to my husband, or him to me, can make or break a conversation and can be the difference between getting along and not. In a Christian marriage, divorce should not be an option (yet it is amazing how many Christian couples do go that route) and the Forehand's give practical, honest, easy to implement ideas that can help you move away from the thought of divorce.

Throughout the book, scripture is referenced to and all comments and suggestions made in the book are scripturally sound. A really great book for couples who are dealing with tough issues in their marriages and need that extra encouragement to work it through instead of giving up.
