The Resolution for Men: A Book Review

About The Book:

“A man cannot be passive about what Scripture tells him to do for his family and expect to be found faithful to God in the end. He must see with spiritual eyes and realize that future generations are directly impacted by his daily decisions.”
—The Resolution for Men

The Resolution for Men is the inspiring book born out ofCourageous, a new film by the makers of Fireproofcoming to theaters nationwide in fall 2011. The movie, which presents a powerful story of strong male leadership, is an emotionally charged wake-up call to fathers whose influence upon their children and society is immeasurable. The Resolution for Men
follows to challenge men of all ages to become as bold and intentional about embracing their responsibilities as leaders of their homes, marriages, and children.

Written by Stephen and Alex Kendrick, screenwriters ofCourageous and authors of New York Times No. 1 best seller The Love Dare (five million copies sold), The Resolution for Men strategically inspires men to reconcile with their past, re-engage in the present by taking full responsibility for their wives and children, and then move forward with a bold and clear resolution for the future. Written in partnership with the movie and Priscilla Shirer’s new book, The Resolution for Women, it is designed to inspire a revolution.

About The Authors:

Stephen Kendrick is senior associate pastor of preaching and prayer at Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. He is also a screenwriter and movie producer and co-wrote the New York Times No. 1 best seller, The Love Dare, with his brother, Alex. Stephen and his wife, Jill, have four children.

Alex Kendrick is associate media pastor at Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia, and coauthor of The Love Dare. He lives in Albany with his wife and five children.

My Review:

First there was Fireproof and The Love Dare, now men, women and families will be rejuvenated and encouraged through The Resolution for Men and The Resolution for Women.

The Resolution for Men covers why men of resolutions are needed, how chains are broken and introduces you to 12 resolutions that will revolutionize man's life! It also includes a fantastic set of appendices:

1. How can I find peace with God?
2. Six powerful influences you must guard in your children's lives
3. Ten potential consequences of a man who commits adultery
4. Seven steps to better sex
5. Resolution Groups: Accountibility for men
6. Scriptures to memorize with your children
7. How to pray for your family
8. Avoiding pornography
9. The Final Speech from Courageous - The Movie

This book is the perfect gift for any man in your life, and both the Resolution for Men and Women would be ideal wedding/engagement gifts for a couple in your life.

"...And most of all, we need a new generation of men like Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, who say to God, Not my will but Yours be done! And at the end of their lives, say, Father, I glorified you on Earth and I have completed the work You gave me to do" By God's grace, we can each become that kind of man. A faithful man of resolution." (p. 222)

The book also includes a great discussion guide, perfect for accountability groups or men's small group discussions.

I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up!
