Stained Glass Hearts: A Book Review

About The Book:

Much like stained glass, life's broken pieces become the prism through which God's grace shines most brightly and beautifully.
"Life is no doubt full of difficulties, but it is also filled with promise and possibility," says best-selling author and WOF speaker Patsy Clairmont. In Stained Glass Hearts Clairmont guides readers to view the difficult experiences of life through the lens of God's grace. Using art as a theme, and likening people to stained glass windows, she shares that it's when we're surrounded by darkness that His healing light shines most brightly within us. Encouraging women to step back and see life from this new perspective, Patsy offers help and hope for the dark places of life.
Along with character studies of women in Scripture, and modern-day, relatable stories, each chapter includes:
  • Chalice—memorable quotes
  • Mosaic—recommended music
  • Spires—scriptures and readings
  • Litany—sample prayers

About The Author:

Patsy Clairmont’s quick wit and depth of biblical knowledge combine in a powerful pint-size package. She helps you to laugh God’s truths right into your heart. Her mission to provide humor and hope for healing comes from her own struggles. God pulled together the emotionally fragmented pieces of her life, not only to free her but also to serve as a reminder that imperfect, cracked Christians are God’s specialty.
A recovering agoraphobic, Patsy speaks at Women of Faith conferences, addressing tens of thousands of women, and has written more than twenty-four books, including Catching Fireflies, All Cracked Up, and I Grew Up Little. She loves a rainy day, a good book, and a deep cushioned chair. Given a day off, she shops, solves the world’s problems with a friend over lunch, and hugs the stuffing out of her two grandsons, Justin and Noah. Patsy and her husband of forty-seven years, Les, live in Tennessee.
My Review:
Are you going through a difficult time right now? A divorce, death of a loved one, lost job, miscarriage? Whatever it is, the Lord will bring you through it, if you choose to allow Him to carry you. This is the message that Patsy Clairmont so eloquently delivers in Stained Glass Hearts. It does not matter what situation we may find ourselves in, the Lord will bring us through. There is beauty in the ugly that we as humans face in our day to day living. Clairmont uses scripture (very doctrinally strong book), and her personal experiences to teach this very important message. As you read Stained Glass Hearts you will be reminded that true peace and joy can only come from complete reliance on Him, who sees our hurts and helps us through. The discussion questions are fantastic for individual study, but also wonderful for group settings like Women's Bible study nights.
I highly recommend this book and give it huge thumbs up!
