A Lancaster County Christmas: A Book Review

About The Book:

Mattie Riehl was hoping to give her husband, Sol, the Christmas gift they have both longed for--news that a baby was on the way. But as usual, she is disappointed. The holidays bring an acute awareness to Mattie that her dream of a big Amish family isn't likely to become a reality. Will those empty chairs at the table ever be filled?

Then a winter storm raging outside blows an impatient young woman and her husband into the Riehl home on Christmas Eve--and into a much slower pace of life.

Both couples are about to find out if they can weather the storm--and if miracles still happen at Christmastime.

My Review:

Another fantastic read from Suzanne Woods Fisher, and this time a perfect read for the upcoming Christmas season! With delightful characters and a simple, yet heartwarming writing style, you will want to read this beautiful Christmas story for many years to come.

A number of issues including infertility and marriage crisis' are themes in the book, but you also get a glimpse at these such as faith, love and forgiveness. I love how the cultures of English and Amish are intermingled and that we are reminded that in the grand scheme of things material things don't matter. It would be nice to see if Fisher develops the characters in A Lancaster County Christmas into future books, or if this book can be developed into a holiday movie!

I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up!
