Do Yourself A Favor...FORGIVE: A Book Review and GIVEAWAY!

About The Book:

Building on her signature message of using the mind to master difficult emotions, Joyce Meyer focuses on the most destructive, insidious one of all: anger. It is responsible for broken relationships, sleepless nights, high blood pressure and ulcers. It destroys friendships, marriages and families, not to mention peace of mind. Anger is especially hard to handle for many Christians who have learned from childhood that "good Christians don't get angry." Meyer argues that properly handled, anger is an alert system that something is wrong and needs to be resolved.

In her latest book, she delves into the important process of forgiving, explaining its positive impact on the roots, the forms and the results of anger.

Why forgive? Joyce explains that forgiving is the only thing that can free one from the terrible turmoil that anger causes to spill over into every part of life.

Meyer understands that life will never be fair, but that is not a reason to let anger destroy our well-being and health. This is her guide to navigating that thorny territory and finding true peace.

My Review:

Joyce Meyer is one of my favorite female preachers, and has been for a while now. Not only do I enjoy listening to her sermons (either on television or online) but I have also loved reading several of her books. Recently, I had the opportunity to read her most recently release, Do Yourself A Favor...Forgive.

The premise of the book is the importance that forgiveness plays in our emotional lives, and ultimately our spiritual lives as well. Meyer writes with a no-nonsense, no-holds-barred style that really appeals to me. The book will allow you to really examine your life and see where you need to forgive, truly, in order to move on from the past, from anger, from depression and self-pity, to freedom from these bondages to true freedom in Christ. We can't do this process on our own, Meyers reminds us, and gives some great pieces of advice to go through the forgiveness process. The circumstances we may be in, like divorce, might not change, but we will be much better people because of the freedom from bondage. A read for anyone struggling with the concept of forgiveness of others and self, to be sure.

I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up!

  1. I think forgiveness is important, but I think we also need to work on not getting angry so easily. If we were all a little more patient we wouldn't say or do things we regret and later need forgiveness for.

  12. The power of forgiveness helps the person doing the forgiving more, since toxic energy is let go and positive compassionate thoughts can thrive once again. Looks like an engaging read with plenty to think about and a way to work on "improving" yourself.
