Touching The Sky: A Book Review

About The Book:

Her heart is caught between the man she loves and the sister she's desperate to protect.

Though their first encounter is hardly auspicious, Laura Marquardt soon discovers herself drawn to the dashing Captain Brandon Reid. As an officer over the colored troops, he eagerly supports her desire to educate blacks and seek harmony in a town where the defeat of the South is a bitter reality.

When Laura's sister marries her Confederate beau, Laura finds herself in a difficult situation after overhearing a discussion with frightening consequences. In her heart she feels she should confide in Brandon, but Laura fears to do so may endanger her sister's life. Yet as the stakes continue to rise and Brandon's motives for pursuing her come into doubt, Laura questions where to turn... and wonders if her own dreams of love may be forsaken.

My Review:

Tracie Peterson has done it again! This time, she has released a great read in Touching The Sky. It is book two in the Land of the Lone Star series. And it is even better then the first book, in my opinion. Though it covers some pretty tough issues like abuse, racism and hatred, the book has enough other adventure and romance to lighten up the tough stuff. A very good balance indeed. Very well written and my favorite character was definitely Laura, as she was a strong woman but willing to do whatever God had planned for her.

If you are a fan of historical fiction, particularly with a Western theme, then you will definitely want to put Touching The Sky on your TBR list for sure. Book 3 of the series, Taming The Wind, is due to release in September 2012 and I cannot wait to read it!

Traci Peterson has a book called Bridal Blessings being released in July 2012 and To Love and To Cherish (book 2 in the Bridal Veil Falls Series) is to be released in August 2012. Lots of great reads coming from this prolific writer, and I am excited about that.

I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up.
