Unglued: A Book Review and GIVEAWAY!

About The Book:

God gave us emotions to experience life, not destroy it! Lysa TerKeurst admits that she, like most women, has had experiences where others bump into her happy and she comes emotionally unglued. We stuff, we explode, or we react somewhere in between. What do we do with these raw emotions? Is it really possible to make emotions work for us instead of against us? Yes, and in her usual inspiring and practical way, Lysa will show you how. Filled with gut-honest personal examples and biblical teaching, Unglued will equip you to: Know with confidence how to resolve conflict in your important relationships. Find peace in your most difficult relationships as you learn to be honest but kind when offended. Identify what type of reactor you are and how to significantly improve your communication. Respond with no regrets by managing your tendencies to stuff, explode, or react somewhere in between. Gain a deep sense of calm by responding to situations out of your control without acting out of control.

My Review:

Lysa Terkeurst has been a favorite author and speaker of mine for a couple years now, and so when the opportunity to review her upcoming release, Unglued, came up, I jumped at the chance.

Unglued came into my life as just the perfect time. If you are a mom (whether you are at home, or work outside the home) or a woman in general, you know that emotions are not a bad thing but it is so easy to let go and become "unglued".  In her most recent release, Terkeurst walks the reader through some amazing tips, scripture and ideas to help us not become unglued and when we do, to learn from it!

Not only does Terkeurst give great tips to prevent becoming unglued, but she explains early on in the book the four types of reactors:

- Exploders that Blame Others
- Exploders that Shame Themselves
- Stuffers that Build Barriers
- Stuffers that Collect Retaliation Rocks

The book explains these four types in very clear, and encouraging ways. She has a ton of quotes that I wrote down (because I read an e-copy). Here are just a few:

**Becoming unglued is glorious if the end result of that brokenness leads us to holiness.

**The one who holds the tongue holds the power

**I can face things that are out of my control and not act out of control

**Soul integrity is honesty that's godly. It brings the passion of the exploder and the peacemaking of the stuffer under the authority of Jesus.

This book is full of nuggets like these, and I urge all women to read this book. It is truly life-changing. I will definitely be getting a physical copy of this book, and would love to be a part of the DVD study sometime in the future. It is clear that Terkeurst has been given a gift from God for writing and teaching women. This book has really reminded me the importance of my words, and how to Biblically change our thinking, even when the hard emotions come, and deal with conflict in a loving, God-honoring manner.

Check out the Unglued website for asssements, a sample of the book and more.

I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up.
