Taming The Wind: A Book Review

About The Book:

A young widow nursing the wounds of her past...
A cowboy with demons of his own...

Though grateful for the blessing of her daughter, Carissa Lowe has accepted that widowhood is her lot in life. Bound by fear and mistrust, she feels incapable of opening her heart again.

Tyler Atherton has never forgotten Carissa. When he discovers she's living with her sister on a nearby ranch, his life becomes intertwined with the lovely widow's. And Carissa's daughter, Gloria, seems determined to wrap herself around his little finger. But while Tyler longs to provide a home and future for Carissa, he is haunted by an obligation he feels unable to fulfill.
Challenged by mounting hardships, can Carissa and Tyler preserve their fledgling love in a land as unforgiving and vibrant as the people who call it home?

My Review:

Tracie Peterson is one of my favorite authors and has been for a long time now. Recently, I received an email from Graf-Martin Communications wondering if I wanted to review the third book of the Land of the Lone Star series, as I had reviewed the first two books. I jumped and the chance and am so glad I did.

Taming The Wind was a fantastic way to finish up the Land of the Lone Star series, with wonderful, easy-to-love characters like Carissa and Tyler. Their story grew as the book went on and I loved that it was gradual and did not feel rushed at all. Peterson's writing is such that she draws you into Civil War Texas and you feel like you are a character observing each scene. This is exactly what I look for in a great book, and Peterson delivers. Although part of a series, I feel that Taming The Wind would be fine as a stand alone novel, so a person could jump in and not feel too lost (but would for sure want to go back and read the other two books!). It as a great reminder that regardless of what is going on in our lives, good or bad, God is with us each step of the way, we just have to put our faith in Him!

Taming The Wind was my favorite of the series, and I look forward to what comes next from Tracie Peterson. Book 3 of the Bridal Veil Falls Series, To Honor and Trust releases in January 2013, and Book 1 of the new Land of Shining Water series, The Icecutter's Daughter, releases in March 2013.

If you are already a fan of Tracie Peterson, you need to get your hands on a copy of Taming The Wind, and if you aren't a fan yet, you will soon become one after reading this fantastic book!

I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up!
