My Review:
Dr. Kevin Leman is one of my favorite authors in all things marriage and parenting, so I absolutely was estatic to be able to review his most recent release, The Way of the Wise. It is one written for the general public and full of nuggets of truth throughout. It is a small book at only 150 pages (including resource listings) but so loaded with inspiration and challenge that my highlighter went into overtime.  This book is for all ages and stages of life, and would be a great gift for a college graduate. My favorite chapters were six (The Marines -and God- Need a Few Good Men...and Women) and four (Attention, Walmart Shoppers: Jesus Has Left The Building). Some of my favorite points in the book include:
"Jesus always did the right thing - not the expedient or cheap thing. If we do the same, we will prosper in the end" (p.67)
"Each day is a gift, but how we spend that gift is up to us. Gifts and talents should never be used only for ourselves. I believe wholeheartedly in something I call natural tithing. If you see a need in someone's life and you can meet it right then, do it. If you can do it anonymously, all the better." (p.68)
"Life is temporal; it won't last. But  shouldn't that idea kick us into full gear rather than sideline us?" (p.100)
"If you don't understand who God is, then you can't acknowledge who he is - the almighty Creator of the universe who doesn't need your copiloting help on anything" (p.124)
"But God is a jealous God. He's not your copilot. You can't put him in a box. He doesn't need to prove anything to you, his creation. And you can't give him your "best shot". He's not interested in your second-best effort of believing in Him. With God it's all or nothing." (p.126)
Intrigued by these quotes, rest assured this is only a sample of the goodness found in this new release from Dr. Leman! Go and buy it now, and buy extras to give away, you will not regret it!
I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up!
