Stress Test: A Blog Tour and Review

About The Book:

They may not have enough evidence to convict him, but they have enough to ruin his life.
Dr. Matt Newman thought he was leaving his life in private practice for a better one in academic medicine. But the kidnappers who attacked him as he left his last shift in the ER have no such plans-they just want him dead. Bound and in the trunk of his car, Matt's only thought is escape. He does so, but at a price: a head injury that lands him in the ICU . . . where he awakens to discover he's being charged with murder.
Sandra Murray is a fiery, redheaded lawyer who swore she was done with doctors. But when Matt calls, she knows she can't walk away from defending someone who is truly innocent.
Matt's career is going down the drain. His freedom and perhaps his life may be next. But with the police convinced he's a murderer and the kidnappers still trying to finish what they started, finding the truth-and the faith to keep going-will be the toughest stress test Matt has ever endured.

My Review:

I have been a fan of crime fiction/mystery novels for a long time now, and while most of the novels I have read have been non-Christian (fave authors include Kathy Reichs) I have been delighted to see quite a number of Christian authors delving into this genre in recent years. My favorites being Dee Henderson and Kathy Herman. Now I am excited to add Dr. Richard Mabry to the list. I have read a number of his books and was very excited to read his most recent release, Stress Test, as a member of the LitFuse Publicity Group's Blogger Review Team.

The book captures your attention from the get-go, drawing you into twists and turns from the first pages of chapter one and not letting up until the end of the book. Not only is there mystery and suspense, but just enough romance to make for a great novel.

Anyone who has read medical mysteries or dramas know that typically these books are full of medical jargon that is hard to understand. However, Mabry being a doctor by profession, has done a fantastic job making it very easy for the average reader to read and understand.

The characters where all well developed and I felt they all interacted quite well with one another. I cannot imagine being the main character, accused of a crime I did not commit, and yet he had the biggest allie in God, as he went on his journey. This was a great message of how no matter where we find ourselves God is always there for us each step of the way.

Mabry's next book, Heart Failure, releases in October 2013 and for sure it is on my to-be-read list for the Fall.

I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up!
