About The Book:
For the last five months, Tom Anderson has been without a job, a fact he's been hiding from his wife Jean--and everyone else. He leaves each morning, pretending nothing has changed, and spends his disheartening day rotating through coffee shops and the library, using their wifi to search job listings online. The stress of keeping this secret is beginning to put serious strain on his marriage.
But Tom's not the only one hiding something. Jean Anderson has a secret of her own--one that will seriously complicate their situation. Will the promises they made on their wedding day hold firm?

The Restoration Series, starting with The Dance, has been a really fascinating read. It not only brings together two of my favorite authors (from two very different genres) but also tackles themes that will have you grabbing for tissue as you read the books and following the journey's taken by the characters.
The second book in the series, The Promise, was an incredible read, and with each step read you will be reminded that no matter what you face, God is with you each step of the way, you only have to let Him guide you. The old adage, "if he brings you to it, He will bring you through it, was definitely seen in the story of Tom and Jean. Being Christians does not mean everything will come up roses in our lives, and especially in our marriages and this book was a breath of fresh air as this theme was covered in the story line.
I love Dan Walsh's writing, and have read all his work, so when I found out he was teaming up with Dr. Smalley, I was very excited for this series. And that excitement continues to stay strong. I look forward to reading book three, which is titled The Desire, and book four, tentatively titled The Prodigal.
A great writing team for sure, and I felt that I related to the main characters in many ways. The story was very real to life and will definitely impact those who are traveling similar paths in their lives to see hope for their future.
I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up!
