A Book Countdown for Advent!

The last several years, my family and I have adopted the tradition of reading two books each night during the month of December as a way to countdown to Christmas morning. I have collected many Christmas books over my years of working in Early Childhood Education, so thought, since I have young children this would be a fantastic opportunity to build on their love for books!

Listed below is my list for this year, not much different than last year, and I wrap each book and each night we read two. I have them labelled 1-24 so we know what books we read nightly. I have an almost equal amount of "everyday" Christmas books and stories that build on the birth of Jesus, and a variety of reading levels, since I have a seven and five year old, both who love to read and are just starting to!

During this time of Advent, our family will be reading through scripture readings from The Jesus Story Book Bible, and other Children's Bibles. One resource that I found to combine this fantastic children's Bible and Advent is an Advent Reading Schedule here, at Home With The Boys, a new blog I recently discovered!

So, now that I have shared one of our family's Advent traditions, what you and your family during Advent? Please share your ideas and links in the comments below!

Merry Christmas,
