Holiday Gift Guide: Baby Alive Real Surprises Doll

Dolls. They have been around for many, many years and both girls and boys have spent countless hours playing with them. Pretending to be a mommy or daddy, sister or brother, is one of the activities that I love seeing children do. Not only are they having fun using their imagination, but they are developing life skills that they will one day use as parents of real babies.

Now for as long as dolls have been around, they have evolved from creepy to very realistic and everything in between. There have been dolls whose eyes opened and closed, dolls who would make breathing sounds and even dolls that crawled. However, one activity that I have always observed when children play with dolls is to feed them and pretend to change their diapers.

Baby Alive takes this concept and steps it up with their Real Surprises Dolls, and our family was generously sent the Blonde doll to review a few weeks ago.

Your little one can feel like a real mommy when she takes care of this adorable Real Surprises Baby doll! This interactive little doll needs lots of loving care. She helps your little one by shaking her head to show what she wants and what she doesn't. Encourage your little one to prepare her "food" and feed it to her. After eating, you know what comes next and so will she – the doll really "pees" and "poops" in her diaper! When it's bedtime, your child can cuddle up with her and give her a pacifier. Watch your little one learn to take good care of her Real Surprises Baby doll!

Real Surprises Baby doll shakes her head to show what she wants and what she doesn't! Prepare her "food"! Feed her! Doll speaks English or Spanish. Change her diaper when she "pees" and "poops!" Note: Soiled diapers do not have strong odor.

Doll comes with dress, bib, bottle, bowl, spoon, pacifier, 3 diapers, 3 doll food packets and instructions.

Wow. That is the first thing that went through my mind when I opened up the box and took Baby Alive out. My girls first reaction was to giggle when they heard Baby Alive (they named her Macy) speak and giggle. Right away they had to feed her and see what would happen to the diaper. Albeit that sounds gross, they were shocked that the doll would be so real. While the doll did come with diapers and food, we have since bought more, and the price was fairly decent when you compare to how many hours of play the girls have had with the doll. Playing dolls is one of my girls' favorite past times and Baby Alive has definitely been a fantastic addition to our very large doll collection. The only piece of advice I have is make sure she is turned off at night...we have had two occasions when this was forgotten and it get's your heart pumping when you hear a very animated voice in the middle of the night giggling and asking for food :) Other than that, it has been a great product and I would not hesitate to buy another one for my girls or as a gift.

I highly recommend this toy and give it a huge thumbs up!
