Balancing It All: A Book Review

About The Book:

“How do you do it all?”

That’s the question that wife, mom, actress, and best-selling author Candace Cameron Bure is often asked. And it’s a question that women everywhere are asking themselves as we seek to balance all of our roles, responsibilities, and opportunities.

So, how do we do it? Working since the age of 5, Candace has been in a balancing act for nearly her entire life. She is the first to tell you that there is no miracle formula for perfect execution in every area of your life, but there definitely are some lessons to be learned, lessons that come to life in Candace’s story.

Come along and dig into Candace’s story from her start in commercials, the balance-necessitating years on Full House, to adding on the roles of wife and mom while also returning to Hollywood. Insightful, funny, and poignant, Candace’s story will help you balance it all.

About The Author:

Candace Cameron Bure, actress, producer, New York Times’ bestselling author and inspirational speaker, is both outspoken and passionate about her family and faith. Known to millions worldwide from her role as “D.J. Tanner” on the iconic family sitcom “Full House,” Candace continues to flourish in the entertainment industry as role model to women of all ages. She lives in the Los Angeles area with her husband and three children

My Review:

I grew up watching Candace Cameron Bure on television and she was one of my favorite 80's/early 90's teen actors! The show she was a part of, Full House, was always a part of our family tv viewing time on Friday nights and it was so exciting that once again I get to review her work. It is so great to see a young woman who loves Jesus and has chosen to embrace her faith, and apply it in all aspects of her life, particularly in her marriage and journey as a mom.

Balancing It All is written in a very easy manner, almost conversational like, and honestly, felt that I was in a coffee shop with Candace as she told me her story. The book is appropriate for teens and adults, and is a quick read as well. It is part biography and part how-to, with Bure using scripture, practical ideas and lots of personal stories about how she balances life. The aspect that I loved most was her spiritual journey of both her and her husband Valerie Bure. It was clear that everything that has occured with both of them has been by the hand of God. He worked in her life when she had no idea that He was. I loved her honesty that life is crazy, busy and sometimes it is hard! I loved that she did not sugarcoat her feelings of being lonely and depressed after moving to Montreal as an NHL wife, I loved her story of friendship with her best friend (even though they are very different people) and I loved all the scripture references made in each chapter. She covers all the various topics we as women and moms will experience in our adult life, whether it's marriage, how to educate our children, religion, and more. It is full of humor, practicality, encouraging and completely inspiring.

I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up!

  1. Excellent review Shirley. Thank you for sharing it. Candace has been quite an example for my nieces (in their late 20s and early 30s). They would really enjoy this.
