In the Shadow of Jezebel: A Book Review

About The Book:

Princess Jehosheba wants nothing more than to please the harsh and demanding Queen Athaliah, daughter of the notorious Queen Jezebel.
Her work as a priestess in the temple of Baal seems to do the trick. But when a mysterious letter from the dead prophet Elijah predicts doom for the royal household, Jehosheba realizes that the dark arts she practices reach beyond the realm of earthly governments. To further Athaliah and Jezebel’s strategies, she is forced to marry Yahweh’s high priest and enters the unfamiliar world of Yahweh’s temple. Can her new husband show her the truth and love she craves? And can Jehosheba overcome her fear and save the family–and the nation–she loves?
With deft skill, Mesu Andrews brings Old Testament passages to life, revealing a fascinating story of the power of unconditional love.

My Review:
One of my very favorite genres of literature is Biblical Fiction because I love to see how authors will interpret biblical accounts of scripture. Mesu Andrews has a definite gift for bringing the Bible to life in her novels and I have thoroughly enjoyed her books. It is very apparent that she does extensive research to make her books as authentic to the historical culture, religious, geographical, and political aspects as possible. I love it! With her most recent book, In The Shadow of Jezebel, Andrews has done it again!

From the very first chapter you are drawn into the world of Jezebel and brings you to a level of understanding Old Testament life like no author I know! The pace of the book was fantastic, keeping my attention and keeping my anticipation high as to what would happen next. I was reminded with each chapter read, that God is the author of our lives and always in control, even if we don't see if right away. Mesu Andrews has a way of bringing hard topics and scripture that we often overlook to life and making it easy to understand and realize that many of the same things we deal with in our life are the same things that Jezebel, Jehosheba and other OT figures did! Another great hit from author, Mesu Andrews!

A great book that I thoroughly enjoyed and HIGHLY recommend!
