Culture Shock: A Book Review

About The Book:

Do you engage or enrage?

We live in a reactionary culture where divisive issues arise, people on either side throw stones, and everyone ends up more entrenched in their opinions rather than reaching common ground--or even exhibiting common courtesy! If there ever was a time for Christians to understand and communicate God's truth about controversial and polarizing issues, it is now. Believers must develop convictions based on research, reason, and Biblical truth--and be able (and willing) to communicate these convictions with a love and respect that reflects God's own heart.

In Culture Shock, bestselling author, pastor, and radio personality Chip Ingram shows you how to bring light rather than heat to the most controversial issues of our day. Covering topics such as right and wrong, sex, homosexuality, abortion, politics, and the environment, Culture Shock is your must-have guidebook to replacing reactionary hate with revolutionary love.

My Review:

In the last two years I have been introduced to the teaching of Chip Ingram. I am so glad I have. My husband had really enjoyed listening to his radio program and then last winter our ladies Bible study group studied his R12 study on Romans 12. Recently, I had the opportunity to review his most recent book, Culture Shock: A Biblical Response to Today's Most Divisive Issues. Topics like abortion, homosexuality, politics, sex and more are discussed with the utmost respect, with a lot of Biblical references, and in an easy-to-understand manner. The book is very easy to read and teaches us, the reader, how to engage in meaningful conversations about controversial issues and still respect one another's differences. This would be an ideal book for small group studies for Sunday School or small groups.

I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up!
