The Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert: A Book Review

About The Book:

Rosaria, by the standards of many, was living a very good life. She had a tenured position at a large university in a field for which she cared deeply. She owned two homes with her partner, in which they provided hospitality to students and activists that were looking to make a difference in the world. In the community, Rosaria was involved in volunteer work. At the university, she was a respected advisor of students and her department's curriculum. Then, in her late 30's, Rosaria encountered something that turned her world upside down - the idea that Christianity, a religion she had regarded as problematic and sometimes downright damaging, might be right about who God was. About The Author:

Rosaria is a former tenured professor of English at Syracuse University. After her conversion to Christianity in 1999, she developed a ministry to college students. My Review:

What an absolutely eye-opening read this book was. To read through the conversion journey of the author, and her overall journey within Christianity was absolutely amazing. The author does a remarkable job of sharing her story and how, even when she so desperately tried to push Christianity away, God grasps onto her with His love and grace and showered her with it. Rosaria writes with a definite passion, rawness and honesty that served this book well. She shares how, we as Christians need to not only reach out and make disciples of Christ, but how we need to also build strong relationships with these new disciples. It challenge me so much to see how I relate to non-Christians and how I look at the world around me.

A great read that I highly recommend.
