Parents often experience a “freak out” moment when they realize their children’s view of God will primarily come from what they learn at home.
Most parents spend more time helping their kids succeed at academics or athletics than infusing shared spiritual experiences into the rhythm of everyday family life.
While the idea of strategically passing down our faith can seem intimidating, the annual Rites of Passage Experiences contained in Pass It On make it easy for your family to celebrate milestones from kindergarten through high school graduation. Forever change the direction of your family’s spiritual legacy . . . starting now

I absolutely loved reading this book as a mom of a seven and nine year old. It is not the first time I have read a book from author Jim Burns. In fact the first time I heard of him and his work with youth, was as a student in Bible College, studying youth ministry. I still have my text book from that time and will reference when my girls are closer to the teen years. For now I will use Pass It On, as it the perfect time to read it, for my stage of parenting.
The book is definitely one that is badly needed. There is so many parenting books out there that cover physical and emotional development in children, but not as many that cover the spiritual development of a child. This book by Burns and Lee is truly a must read for all parents who want to raise their children to follow the Lord.
Currently chapters 3 (Second Grade: An Invitation to the Bible)) and 5 (Fourth Grade: An Invitation to Friendship) are the two that most impact me at this point in my parenting journey. And that is exactly what it is - a journey.
Some of my favorite parts of the books included the description of the rituals for each grade that you can choose to participate in with your child, as well as the milestones in other areas that your child will be experiencing at each stage. Kindergarten to grade 12 is covered in the book, making it a life long reference tool for parents, and other care givers. Every celebration is meant to focus on the child and make the day and moment about them and leading them to a deeper relationship with God. A very practical read for the total spiritual development of all children!
This would be a fantastic gift idea for baby showers and even this upcoming Christmas season.
I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up!
