Bathsheba: A Book Review

About The Book:

One of Ancient Israel's Most Famous Women--
As You've Never Looked at Her Before

One of the Bible's most misunderstood and misjudged women, Bathsheba comes to life in this new biblical reimagining from Angela Hunt. Combining historical facts with detailed fiction, this is an eye-opening portrait that will have you reconsidering everything you thought you knew about her.

After receiving God's promise of a lifelong reign and an eternal dynasty, King David forces himself on Bathsheba, a loyal soldier's wife. When her resulting pregnancy forces the king to murder her husband and add her to his harem, Bathsheba struggles to protect her son while dealing with the effects of a dark prophecy and deadly curse on the king's household.

My Review:

Angela Hunt has been a favorite author of mine for several years, and with each book I read, she continued to stay at the top of my favorite author lists. And with the release of her most recent book, Bathsheba, she proves once again what a great writer she is.

Bathsheba, a beautiful woman, who is written about in the Bible, has quite a story. She is the classic example of what happens when you want something you can't have, and the consequences that result. Ms. Hunt does a remarkable job of telling her story and bringing the Bible to life. I often am nervous when an author wants to fictionalize the Bible but I truly believe that Angela Hunt kept the sanctity of the Biblical account. As troubled as the story of Bathsheba is, and the actions she and David took were, this story is one full of redemption and is a fantastic example of how a life can be turned around by the grace of God. The cover is absolutely stunning and was the first thing that caught my eye about the book. I also loved how well the book was written and flowed from beginning to end. A great read overall.

While this is the second book in the Dangerous Beauty series, it is a stand alone novel that is fantastic. I cannot wait to read book three, Delilah, when it releases in 2016.

I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up!
