Worship Changes Everything: A Book Review

About The Book:

An Invitation to Praise and Honor God in Every Area of Life
It can be easy to have a heart filled with worship on a Sunday morning as the church band is playing your favorite song. But then comes Monday morning's commute and Tuesday afternoon's pile of laundry. How do we maintain a heart of worship in the daily grind?

Darlene Zschech has spent her life thinking and teaching about worship. With wisdom and contagious joy, she shares her thoughts on what worship truly is and how it should invade every facet of our being. Everything we do can be an act of worship to the Lord, transforming our work, our friendships, our churches, our families. It's all about living in His presence--being aware of the Lord by our side and at work in our lives.

Learn to live a life of worship. You will be amazed by the purpose and freedom it will bring.

My Review:

The music of Darlene Zschech and Hillsong Australia has been a staple in my home for many many years and I was very excited to read this book from such a prolific worship leader as she.

Darlene is open and honest, writing in such a manner that I felt we were in the same room having a coffee and discussing the finer details of how we worship our God in our everyday lives.

That is the key theme that comes across in this book. Our worship of God is not to be limited to just our Sunday morning church service experiences for the 10-20 minutes that we sign songs in corporate style.

Here are a few quotes that particularly resonated for me as I read Worship Changes Everything:

-There is nowhere we can go, no situation, no challenge, no relationship, no conversation where God isn't present. Because of His great love for us, and His spirit at work in and through us, His worship will invade every nook and cranny of our lives (p. 38)

-Worship changes everything. Why? It is rooted in our knowing in the very depth of our being how loved and cherished we are. We're not without mercy. We're not a nobody. We are God's somebody. (p. 52)

-As we worship God in and through the relationships, activities,  and places in our lives, His power changes us (p. 79)

-To worship with our life means that it is not just in the singing of songs that we find our hearts emblazoned with His presences and passion; it spills over into life where His passion - our mission - finds its expression in the going, the sending, and the daily expression of our faith in the ordinary. As Christ followers, all that we are should somehow result in bringing the love and light of Christ to our world. Is this mission? Oh yes. Is this worship? Absolutely! (p. 93)

This is just a glimpse of what you will find in this book! I have made so many notes, and highlights that I may need to go and get another copy! The book not only helps us understand Darlene's journey but gives the reader practical instruction of finding worship in the everyday!

A read that all Christians should pick up, read and apply to their lives!

I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up!
