Growing God's Church: A Book Review

About The Book:

Reaching a changing world with the unchanging gospel
God does not change--but people do. The ways people are hearing the gospel and connecting with churches today are not the same as they were even twenty years ago. It stands to reason, then, that if we want our churches to grow--if we want the kingdom to grow--it's time to reevaluate the way we do outreach.

Based on ten years of comprehensive research, Growing God's Church unveils how people are actually coming to faith in the 21st century. Church growth expert Gary L. McIntosh answers questions like

· How are new Christians hearing the gospel today?
· How are they finding churches?
· What makes them stay at a church?

He helps you evaluate your motives for ministry, your church's priorities, the reality of churchless Christians, the name of your church, and much more in light of the Great Commission and the changing face of our modern world.

My Review:

Evangelism is something that all Christ-followers are called to do. Bring the world to a saving faith in Christ. While there are a variety of ways to do that, sometimes one has to wonder if it is really working. Author Gary L. McIntosh uses his most recent book to look at the ways we evangelise and are these methods working. He writes in a style that is very academic, however also makes it easy for the lay person to very easily understand what he is writing. I loved that he looked at why people stay in church, why they leave and ways we can make the gospel relevant to the world around us. There was a lot to think about as I read through the book and due to the amount of information, I will for sure be going back through the book on a slower pace to engage with all that is within this great read.

If you are looking to understand the "why" about being a missional Christian and a missional church this is definitely a great book to help you out!

I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up!
