About The Book:

Creative art should offer children opportunities for originality, creativity, fluency, flexibility, and sensitivity. Dribble Drabble is a collection of hands-on, process-oriented art activities that promote sensory exploration and cognitive development in young children.

-Discover the stages of art development and see why the process is much more than the finished product

- Learn how to set up a rich art environment in your own setting

- Follow the activities step by step instructions for easy preparation, set-up, adaption, and expansion for further training.

- Use the activities for individual art or in project-based collaborative art expressions

-Easily adapt activities for children from two to eight

Covering a wide range of media including:
  • Painting
  • Crayons
  • Collage
  • Sculpture
  • Chalk
  • Printing

Art is a discipline where no one way of doing things is right or wrong. The activities in this book provide an opportunity for young children to follow their interests and inquiries, wherever they may go. These hands-on projects have been classroom-tested to ensure they keep learning fun and engaging.

About The Author:

Deya Brashears Hill has spent more than three decades working in early childhood education. Early in her career she wrote scripts for Sesame Street during its formative years. Hill's experiences have helped her develop expertise in brain development, curriculum, and diversity in early childhood education. She now serves as a Director of Orinda Preschool and an adjunct professor for various Bay Area colleges where she passes her knowledge and experience on to the next generation of early childhood professionals.

My Review:

Dribble Drabble has been a fun book to read because it is one that you cannot just read. You have to experience it! It include 145 fun and easy art activities that are process based versus having an end product. Each activity allows children to get messy, have fun and learn all in the same moment. They are easy to set up, very easy to adapt for all ages and seriously this book will last me a long time as an early childhood educator!

This would be a wonderful birthday gift and even a baby shower gift for parents, and also a wonderful graduation gift for any early childhood education or art teacher.

I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up!
