Reading the Bible Without Getting Lost: A Book Review

About The Book:

"Scripture did not spring from the imaginations of ancient men, but holy men spoke and wrote as they were carried along by the Spirit of God" (2 Pet. 1:21). This simple handbook serves as a guide to help beginning readers of the Bible arrive where the Spirit intended.
The Bible is a vast library of writings spanning centuries and cultures. It can be daunting and confusing for inexperienced Bible readers. Reading the Bible without Getting Lost gets to the heart of every book of the Bible and provides a reader's roadmap through each one. In addition, it provides an overview of the biblical story, a brief treatment of types of literature in the Bible, and a simple guide to studying the Bible.
There are many books on biblical interpretation and many hefty introductions to the Bible, but this book joins the two into a manageable size and simple presentation for beginning Bible students.

About The Author:

Mike Tune has served as a preaching minister for forty years. He currently ministers with a church near our nation's capital in Virginia. His Bible course "Going Home" has been taken by many thousands of students worldwide. Mike is also the president of Amazing Grace International, a non-profit corporation dedicated to teaching the Bible and educating poor children in third-world countries. He writes a blog for daily Bible readers and has written devotionals on nearly every chapter of the Bible.

My Review:

If you are new to Christianity or just would love a refresher on the books of the Bible, this is a fantastic resource. It is well-organized, written in a very easy to understand manner and includes concise information about each book in the Bible. Each of the first five sections help us get a basis for why it is important to study the Bible. Then the last sections of the book go through each specific book of the Bible and decode the main themes and gives a wonderful overview of each. A great tool to launch one into a deeper study of God's word.

It is a great resource to use among other Bible study tools and would make a wonderful gift for a Bible college student.
